Okay, so this is when Samantha Carter is running the SGC. Create a team, add to an already existing one, or be a creepy alien that messes things up! :) Show characters are up for grabs, but please keep them IN CHARACTER.

Major Sarah Felton was eating breakfast.

Sarah looked up, then stood at attention. "Good morning, Colonel. Major." ((I don't know how they should act... I'm just guessing. ))

((I'm not. I just forgot about this...))

Sarah grinned. "I'll keep that in mind."

((Anyone around? Would love to join the RP. Can I play Daniel Jackson? ))

((Yep. Jessica's here, but no one else is... :) Welcome!))

((Thanks! Where's everyone? Been ages since I've done any sort of role playing.))

((They're in the cafeteria. I have Sarah... Felt? Something like that.))

Balancing a bunch of books and files and an empty coffee mug Daniel entered the mess hall. Having late nights at the base wasn't the problem until you run out of coffee in your office by the morning. But the translation was going so well he didn't want to leave it behind in the office.

He gave a short grin to some of the officers he recognized, nodded morning to people who greeted him, lifted up his empty mug back in greeting whilst trying not to balance the folders and books in his arms.
By now most knew enough not to stand between Dr Daniel Jackson and his coffee refill especially when the linguist was armed with books and folders.

"Morning Major, Colonel, Major" He voiced as he passed by Hazel, Flynn and Felton's table.

((what are the canon characters that are around? Teal'c ? Jack? Sam? Vala?))

((All of the above, I think. :) Wait.. Who's still there when Sam is the leader? ))

Sarah waved with her free hand. "Morning Dr. Jackson."

((Can't remember when she was in charge of SG1. She was in charge of Atlantis for a while though.))

"All set for your mission to P5X 666?" Daniel queried without so much as a pause to recall the planet's designation.

((so what's the plot then?))

((Oh... Maybe she wasn't... Oh, yeah, she was in charge of that one ship, wasn't she? Hm. My memory on the show is a bit spotty.))

Sarah nodded with a grin. "I think so. It'll be interesting, that's for sure."

((Not sure. I was thinking something major goes wrong on the mission?))

((are you playing all three women going on the missiong then? Here's stuff about Sam: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samantha... Let's settle on during which season this takes place so it'll be easier to get this moving.where are the other people, it just seems like it's just you and me for now.))

Daniel chuckled lightly, most off world missions were 'interesting' to some degree.

"Right, well.." Daniel balanced his armful of books and folders and held up the mug, "refill. Coffee." he spoke catching a waft of coffee in the air reminding him why he came here, "Enjoy your breakfast."

((Feel free to stop him/ask stuff. Let me know what canon characters you want used, maybe you want to bring some of the canon characters along with you to the planet; I'll be happy to play them; any brief on what's on the planet? ))

((No, I've got just Sarah... I might have to if no one else shows up. maybe I'll PM dandytiger. Which season would you prefer?))

Sarah looked at her empty cereal bowl, then at her empty coffee mug. "I think I'll get some coffee, too. What's in the folders?"

((Hm. Depends on the season I guess. I don't know if I could pull Teal'c off. Jack's always funny, but in some seasons he's gone. So I'll wait to decide until we settle on a season. I'm good with whatever. Maybe one of the middle seasons?))

Daniel looked pre-occupied for a moment, "Huh?" the archaeologist came out of his half trance, "oh..um... the files.. artefact profiles, photos taken on various planets...stuff to keep me busy " He flashed a grin as he made the beeline for the coffee still, somewhat awkwardly cradling the bunch of files, all neatly labeled with planet addresses and specifics that made them easier to find later on.

((there ya go, one of those folders is labeled P5X 666 ;-) ))

Sarah nodded and followed slowly. "Cool." She stood slightly behind him to wait for coffee. One of the folders caught her eye. "Oh, you have a folder on 666. What kind of artifact stuff do they have there?"

"that? oh, I just got this file. Jack says it's something that I could possibly sink my teeth into." Daniel spoke, "these are shots from the MALP footage. Gate appears to be in a 'temple' of some sort, I can't quite make out the writing, but the interior set up looks like a place of worship or maybe a record vault of sorts." he said, excitement quite audible in his voice as he continued.

"Wouldn't be the first time..most early cultures tended to record their important events on cave walls, in temples, tombs," Daniel listed off a host of other explanations for the writing on the walls on P5X-666 not really aware whether Sarah was listening or not.

Sarah listened intently. "That's awesome," she said with a grin. "So are you planning on coming with us then?"

"Planning? Uh..yea...no..I mean..." Daniel shifted his weight from one foot to the other, fiddling with the armload of books and files whilst managing to make sure he didn't drop his mug. "at some point, yes, I would definitely like to look at the inscriptions a little closer than photos and video footage. " he admitted.

Sarah nodded. "Okay... Well, we'd love to have you. I'm interested to see what those inscriptions say, too." She looked at his folders. "Would you like me to carry some of those somewhere for you, Dr. Jackson?"

"No, that's, I'm good, I can manage" he smiled moving to refill his mug, "I was just picking up a few things from Jack's office...well the books are from my..er.. office," he paused, taking a whiff of the freshly brewed coffee; "well, at least this batch smells like coffee" he noted dryly, moving over and offering Sarah a refil of her mug too.

"So, ah... You want to know what those inscriptions say?" he caught himself shortly before he said something that might be taken wrong; "I..when does your team leave?" Daniel queried, seriously pondering taking her up on the offer to join them. Getting off base and to another new planet to explore was always a welcome change for the archaeologist.

Sarah accepted the refill. "Thanks." She nodded, blowing the steam off the top. "At 13:00 hours, I think. Colonel Hayden isn't here yet. I do want to know what they say, though." She smiled slightly. "I took a brief class on Egyptology in College. Nothing like what you know, obviously, but enough to make me curious." ((Ah, what was he going to say? Now I'm full of curiosity...))

"Ah" he nodded, "that's interesting, few military personnel actually show interest in the ancient worlds." he noted. "If anything, just the opposite, especially the marines," he said, after almost a decade of being amongst military personnel, this is the sort of thing one would be used to, but not quite. "Take it you enjoyed the class, then?"

((well you know how Jack, the military man, doesn't really care about science/archaeology and whatnot..Sam on the other hand is curious, but that's because she's a scientist. By the way, are you playing Col Hayden too?))

((Yep. I don't think there's anyone else to. Unless you want to, which by all means would be fine with me. Oh, got it.))

Sarah nodded enthusiastically. "Aside from my technology class, it was probably my favorite." She took a sip of coffee, wincing as it burned her mouth. "Ow. Yes, I've noticed that. Some of them don't show much of an interest in anything." She bit the inside of her cheek. Nice. "Hm. Well, anyway, it'll be interesting to see what's on the planet. It feels like it's been ages since we've done any off world work."

((*crickets chirp in the distance*))

(( HI!!!! i was so excited to find this RP! my parents and i are watching stargate-were on sg-1 season 3. almost 4. i hope that the rp revives!))

It was Ginger Kemp's first day at the SGC. Ginny was only 18, but she had completed college already. She was supposed to find a Dr. Daniel Jackson. He was going tell her about being a scientist with the Stargate Program. Then she had to find Colonel Mark Hayden. Apparently he led SG-3, the team she was joining. Just as she was walking into General Hammond's office, though, an alarm went off! "What's that?!?!" she asked no one in particular.

((sorry, here... two unis = swarmed with assignments, plus we just moved house, so i haven't been on much... >.< right... where were we.... ? who was I? *scratches head* ))

"Off world's nice. Natives usually want to have off worlders for a feast eventually. Mind you, some would rather have you AS a feast. That's one planet we're never going back to." he shook his head a little as if chasing away a memory. "then again..." he began but was cut off as the alarm sounded. "Oh geez." He set his cup down, "better go see what that's all about," he flashed a quick grin and rushed to see where the alarm what was the source of the alarm.

"hello? Anyone? Uh, new person here! What's going on?1?!?!" Ginny asked random people as she was pushed around, "and does anyone know where Dr. Daniel Jackson is? Anyone? Uggggh! This is useless!"

((sorry for delays, got a final exam tomorrow...aight, but what do they want and who's playing who? I think there's an OOC thread somewhere here where we can hash out the details. should at least know the characters I'm writing for. lol. ))

"Unscheduled gate activation" came Chief Master Sergeant Walter Davis's voice over the loudspeaker; the man himself was seated at his usual place overlooking the gate which was still spinning, chevrons locking into place one by one.

Daniel made it inside just as chevron five locked in place. He glanced over his shoulder half expecting the General to come out of his office. Daniel looked back at the spinning gate just as the 'whoosh' completed the process and establishing the link between two worlds.

"Iris" Daniel spoke as he watched military personnel take aim at the gate on the floor below. He tensed up, wondering what was going to come out of the gate, part of him wanted some action, yet another part of him wanted nothing more than having the old SG1 back together doing what they did best.

"Receiving IDC" Walter spoke, "SG4" he added after a tense moment, "they weren't due back until few hours later." he said as the Iris slid back to reveal the event horizon.

"It's a few hours later in Australia" Daniel spoke before he could stop himself. Walter gave him an amused look, Daniel shrugged as he watched SG4 march through the gate. For a moment getting lost in his thoughts and memories of making the trips through the Stargate himself countless times; of course most weren't that smooth. He rubbed his shoulder absently recalling the time he quite literally dived through the gate on the other side. The action he missed, the pain, not so much.

"woah," ginny breathed; it was, after all, her first time seeing the stargate in action. standing next to her was a guy in sg uniform. He looked official, but not military. "excuse me, sir, you wouldnt happen to know where Dr. Daniel Jackson is, would you?" ((shes asking daniel))

"uh" Daniel held up a hand, "right here." he spoke, his eyes still on the 'gate below as it shut down. "definitely here" he added with a bit more re-assurance; he turned to the source of the voice. Smiling he extended his hand to Ginny, "Hi I'm Dr Daniel Jackson"

"oh! Hello, I'm Ginny Kemp. I mean Ginger Kemp. Well I mean my names Ginger but I go by Ginny. Uhhhhh! My first day and I already made a fool of myself!" Ginny muttered, "but I'm supposed to talk to you about being in charge of cultural dealing on other planets."She said, shaking his hand.

Daniel blinked, forcing the slight amusement off his face. "Hi, er Ginny... Um, right.. wait , did i miss a memo?" he wondered out loud. "be-cause this wouldn't be the first time" he noted. "Uh, who exactly sent you?" he asked, curious; she didn't look military so there was no sense asking her where she got her orders from. Besides, most military personnel were hardly eager to talk to him about cultural dealings on other planets.

"um," Ginny said, shifting awkwardly, "well General Hammond sent me. I just graduated from MIT and I was going to go to grad school at the Sorbonne but the SGC recruited me to help with cultural things on other planets. I was told to find you, that you'd be teaching me. So I guess you did miss a memo..."

Daniel chuckled, "not surprised," he spoke gesturing for Ginny to follow him out of the control room and to his office "As you can imagine studying cultures here on earth is not an easy task; studying those on other planets is no different" he said.

Shelves littered with books, artifacts gathered from almost every corner of the galaxy, blown up stills of close up of ancient writing, blackboards filled with in-progress translations, desks littered with files, more artifacts, video tapes, CDs and a lot of other things made Daniel's office look more like an archive room than an office, but sauntering inside Daniel seemed had no problem navigating around the 'organized mess'.

"Pretty sure the memo's here somewhere" he noted, "but, "he cleared his throat, "right... cultural things," he added, "I suppose you can start by reviewing some of these" he dug up several tapes. "I make these whenever we go off-world, it helps in studying cultural differences that won't otherwise be noticed live" he added.

((Hey, Maj. Felton can drop by any time, by the way. ;) ))

"ok," Ginny said, taking the stack, "so I just look at them
And watch for differences in speech and clothing and, like, colloquial language and stuff?" she said, slipping back into teenage-talk."

"Well, no, not exactly. These will give you an idea of what we're dealing with as far as cultures on different planets are concerned. I don't suppose you've ever been off world," he said, "these" he gestured to the tapes, "are the next best thing to actually being off world, without the possible danger of crossing certain.. er.. natives" he added.

"um, ok," Ginny said, taking one title 'Chulac' off the stack.
