It's ubiquitous but I thought I'd add it anyways - the Stieg Larsson trilogy.

Let the Right One In byJohn Ajvide Lindqvist was a brillaint work. It was not just a vampire story, but about so much more, dealing with contriversial issues, social problems, and sexuality. A bleak and chilling tale which may be the best vampire story since Dracula.

Any book by Selma Lagerlöf.
"The Saga Of Gösta Berling" is one fine example.
She is a Noble Prize winner of rang.

Camilla Läckberg is a Swedish author who has written a series of detective novels (actually, they are more novels than detective stories!). They have been translated into English. I've read the first three and enjoyed them very much. Read them in the correct sequence because some of the stories continue without any explanation of what went before.

Seacrow Island is a delightful middle grade read by famous Swedish children’s author Astrid Lindgren.
