Nikki Broadwell (nikkibroadwell) | 10 comments I'm wondering if anyone here has paid for advertising on Goodreads, and if so how you've done with it...
thanks!

Xavier Edwards (xavieredwards) | 5 comments I have. When I've kept it going it's been quite reasonable for turning attention to my work, at least here on GR.

I run it as cheaply as possible when I do, but as to how much long term interest it has grown, I can't really say.

Can you tell me how to go about it? did you just advertise one book? I have 3 that I would like to promote but that could get very expensive I'm sure...

Hi Nikki, I just paid for a 5-day ad but it hasn't started yet. Will let you know when it's done.

Xavier, when you say as cheap as you can do you mean less than the .50 a click that they recommend?

Xavier Edwards (xavieredwards) | 5 comments Hi all,

I'll answer the simplest question first -- Yes, I set my per-click to the absolute minimum. This is because I saw GR advertising as peripheral to word of mouth.

I actually advertised across many of my books, setting an overall per day limit for the campaign (all were managed under the one campaign). Probably the hardest thing was in terms of getting the word count for the advertisement down low enough. My campaign is currently suspended, but I'm thinking about reactivating it shortly.

As to how to set it up, I just followed the bouncing ball on GR, and made sure to target the ad only to the genres where it would be appropriate (no point wasting money putting it in front of people who don't want to read my books).

Hope this helps.

Nikki Broadwell (nikkibroadwell) | 10 comments thanks, Xavier...do you access it through 'ads' or something else? I found one place but I couldn't list all my books, which is what I want to do...does yours show your book and have it pop up on others sites?

Xavier Edwards (xavieredwards) | 5 comments Ads on GR should appear on the genres you have selected. Each ad is only really meant for one book, but I included many ads under the one campaign for tracking.

Tory Richards (toryrichards) I just wrote my first erotic paranormal romance and have no idea where to begin talking about it, what groups, ads, etc. Any ideas?
