message 1: by Alkmini (new)

Alkmini In this chapter the temple of God is finished and Solomon prays this prayer: "May your eyes be open night and day toward this house, the place of which you said, My name shall be there; listen to the prayer your servant makes toward this place." (verse 29)

When I read it, it made me wonder... How often do I pray for my church? How often do I ask Him to bless my church and to keep His eyes open toward the place where He decided to be worshiped? How often do I ask Him to guide the preacher and to open the eyes of the hearts of everyone in the church? To reach the ones who don't know Him as a Savior and to strengthen the faith of all of us who are saved in His name?

The answer is I almost never do that... I hope you all do it already, but if you don't, start doing it! That's what I'm going to do from now on! Pray for His church and for His people!

message 2: by Ann (new)

Ann Maertins (chatterann) I really need to start doing that more often! When we are in Bible study/prayer group with other church members and one of them prays for our church, I will of course pray with them, but I don't usually think to pray for the church in my daily prayers.

Alkmini yeah that's my problem too.. :/ and this verse made me realize how importan it is to pray for my church and for the church of Christ all over the world.

Lately I've realized that I sometimes end up praying more for myself than others. Isn't that awful?

message 5: by Alkmini (new)

Alkmini it's not that God doesnt want us to pray for ourselves too but I know what you mean... I do that too :/

message 6: by Aaron (new)

Aaron Meyer (loptsson) It's not bad to be praying for yourself, for sometimes you need God to do more work with and for you. I catch myself (in cycles it seems) praying for myself alot and then for periods of time I pray for others more than myself.

Carolyn (caroheartsbooks) | 30 comments I guess it depends. Whether or not you're truly being selfish and saying things like "I want I want I want"

message 8: by Aaron (new)

Aaron Meyer (loptsson) True, but I never ask for things I want. I ask for him to make me a better person for his usage not for my sake but his.

message 9: by Alkmini (new)

Alkmini Yeah thats not a bad thing. But sometimes when I only pray for myself, even though I pray without being egoistical, I forget to pray for other people. So I try to pray for them firstly and then for my own needs.

message 10: by Aaron (new)

Aaron Meyer (loptsson) That is actually a good way of doing it Alkmini. One I think I will adapt myself.
