The halls of the Institute. There are many, many hallways. Long hallways, short, and they lead to the bedrooms that the inhabitants of the institute use.

Marco had entered the institute to grab some supplies for their little journey. He had to admit, he was a bit nervous. This was the closest he had gotten to finding them. And if he did find them, he'd kill them. So the proper equipment must be used, which was why Marco was going to the weapons room; to arm himself. He still didn't like the idea of the girl going with him, but right now, Kara held information he needed. Information that could end this for him; only if she was right that is. Marco didn't want to set himself up for disappointment and failure. But this was Marco, there was no room for failure.
Kara walked beside Marco, keeping stride with him easily. Whatever reason he had for going after this slim chance was his business, but she was glad he was allowing her to help him. Besides, she was actually looking forward to the opportunity for her to put her many hours of practice to the test. "What is it that you hope to find?" she asked curiously, not being able to hold that question back any further.
Marco had known that she would ask this question eventually, and it wasn't something he had needed to hide. "You know that Jonathan's Shadowhunters are still out there, right?" he started slowly, knowing she had to know they weren't all wiped out. With every battle, there were always a few remaining survivors. "I plan on hunting then down," he said plainly, and he was convinced. This was the reason he perfected his skill with every weapon at his disposal as fast as he could. It was why he spent hours and sleepless nights memorizing books. "I'm going to kill those sons of a bitches," he said and flashed her a grin
Kara stumbled slightly, but quickly regained her composer as she once again walked in stride next to him. "Do you really think you can do that all by yourself?" she asked, genuinely wondering if even he believed such an ambitious claim. "I mean, you don't even know how many of them there are."
Marco noticed her stumble but made no acknowledgement of it and continued to walk to the weapons room as if it hadn't happened. "I don't care how many there are, and yes, I can take them on my own," he said confidently, sticking his hands in his jean pockets. "Don't worry about me, sweetheart," he said with a wink.
Kara felt her cheeks warm up from his gaze, the word 'sweetheart' echoing in her head. Why does he keep complementing me and looking at me like that? Thee's no way he likes me. No, that can't be it, she thought. "But just you can't possibley manage a mission like that. It's suicide." she said, glancing at him as they walked.
Marco shrugged and took his hand out of his pocket to open the door to the weapons "Arent you the little optimist," he said without looking at Kara and entered the room. There were more weapons than he could count, too bad he could only take a few. "Have some confidence in me, darling. Afraid? Don't be, I gotcha," he said and walked over to a chest of weapons.
"Im not affraid," Kara said quickly, a little too quickly, as she followed him into the weapons room. She'd been in here enough times to know exactly what everything was and where it was. What could she say, she loved weapons. "Im sure you're a great fighter, but by yourself that sounds impossible. Now since you've got me with you now, I can kinda see it happening." she said, a smirk on her face as she easily downplayed her lack of confidance.
Marco smiled to himself at her immediate response, luckily the lighting in the room was a touch darker than in the hallway. That, and he was facing the chest, away from her. Calling someone weak or afraid would bring up their defenses, and show what they really think. Normally. "Keep telling yourself that," he said teasingly. Marco grabbed some swords and strung them in his belt along with some chakrams-- his best weapons. "Find what you need."
"Already got it." Kara said, having already grabbed many small, but deadly, throwing knives as well as a beautifully crafted sereph blade. "And you've obviously never seen me fight," she countered, a small smile on her lips. She wasn't one to brag, but she felt she had to impress Marco in order to keep him around.
Marco closed the chest e was scavenging through, closing with a soft thud. He looked over at Kara, curious to see what weapon she had chosen and wasn't all to surprised to see her with small throwing knifes. They suited her, sharp. "Then we better get going," he said evenly and walked out of the room. He was just hoping that she could fight, because if she was actually coming along, well, to be honest he didn't want to have to core her ass and his own. He still didn't like her coming, and that was one of the reasons that he couldn't deny. "I haven't seen you fight," he said truthfully, peering his head back to look at her. "But I don't think it will last long."
Kara felt a wave of fear run through her body at his last words, but it didn't show. "Then get ready to be impressed," she said, one side of her mouth curved up in a smile. She had never been in a real fight with another Shadowhunter before, but there was no way in hell she'd ever tell that to Marco. Especially not now. Still she was an exceptional fighter for someone who hadn't grown up learning how to fight. Her skills were superb since pretty much the only thing she ever did was train.
Marco walked next to her as they headed back down the hall, his hands finding their pockets again. "I'd rather be surprised honestly," he said with a smile, his eyebrows raised slightly. He liked messing with people, or that's what his image was. He wondered how long this girl has been at the institute, obviously not long enough to know about his image. But there was a slight chance that she did know, yet stayed. The part of him that believed that was beyond small, because if she did know, she wouldn't be willing to go after the Shadowhunters he was chasing with only one question.
"Then that you will be." Kara said, once again staying in stride with Marco easily. One of her hand held a small blade, one of her best weapons, and spun it round in her hand mindlessly. "Do you think we'll find what you're looking for there?"
Marco thought about it before answering. He hoped that they would, but hope and believing weren't the same thing. Yes, they corresponded, but were not identical. "I think," he said slowly, making sure to choose his words carefully. "That even if we don't find them, I'll have another lead of some sort," he decided, satisfied with his answer. He wasn't one to lie, but he was similar to a fairy where they either didn't tell the entire truth, or took a different route to it.
"True," Kara agree, the blade twirling gracefully in her hand as she glanced at Marco once more. She found herself unable to resist sneaking a peek at him every once in a while, it was actually hard not to just stare at him. "Well for what its worth I hope we find 'em."
Marco was surprised to see that she actually meant what she said, and he was good at picking out lies. "Thanks, really," he said before mentally kicking himself in the head. The mask he was wearing only lasted so long before it cracked. He grinned sideways at her to cover it up, repairing the crack in seconds. As if it never happened. "Sure you don't want to back out, now would be the time."
Kara scoffed at the idea of backing out. Sure it had crossed her mind many times but doing so would only make her appear weak to him. And that was one of the last things she wanted anyone to ever think of her as. "No way, you're not getting rid of me that easily mister 'I can do this by myself'." she said teasingly, sneaking yet another glance in his direction.
Marco shrugged and looked over at her, only to find that she was already glancing at him. He winked at her. "Alright fair enough. It's not like I don't like having you around anyways," he said with a grin before facing straight again, keeping her in his line of vision just to see her reaction. He may have just thought of a way to ditch her.
Kara felt her cheeks warm up once more, that feeling becoming way to familiar to her, as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Good, because you're stuck with me for now." she quickly said, hoping to cover up her reaction.
Marco nodded, seeming to agree to her statement. But that's not what he was nodding to or for. He'd get her to leave as soon as he got the location from her, that's all he needed and that's all that was keeping her with him as of right now. "Whatever you say, dear. Now are you ready to have some fun," he said with a small wink.
Kara swallowed hard, though she covered her fear with the quick flash of a smile. "Ready when you are." she said as she stopped twirling the blade in her hand and held it steadily.
Marco grinned at her. "Baby, I've been ready for years," he said evenly and strides towards the door, holding it open for her. "I've just been waiting for you," he said softly, looking down at her through his eye lashes. His plan couldn't fail, he refused to let it happen. His heart couldn't take another failure.
This time Kara couldn't help but stare at him, her heart fluttering. No one had ever looked at her like that. Ever. It felt...well it felt nice. She walked out the door, not trusting herself to speak out of fear she'd say something stupid.
Marco left after her, closing the door softly behind him. He felt bad about his plan to ditch her, but he didn't take the time to come up with a new one. She'd get over it soon enough too, they always do. A smile here, a wink there, it didn't take much for girls to be attracted to him and he knew it. Not to say he liked it, but he had to.
