Metaphorosis (metaphorosisreviews) | 47 comments I found this section one of the weaker parts of the book. Steerpike gives himself away - which I found unnecessary - but nonetheless establishes himself as Master of Ritual. Flay's exploration of the Lifeless Halls, and search for the hidden laughter is promising, but isn't really built on later. Titus birthday, while a nice opportunity for interaction with Fuchsia, doesn't really fit. It's as if Peake said to himself, "Let's have another sequence of bizarre, picturesque ritual to emphasize weird Gormenghast pageantry." It feels stuck in, not organic.
