The Relationship Between Sufism and Egyptian Mysticsm

I was blessed to visit Egypt not too long before the popular uprising and had the most enjoyable time.
I am not entirely sure if Egypt's expression of Islam has been completely devoid of music. For example, every time I hear Inta Omri, I cannot help but wonder if Oum Khultum is singing to her beloved or to the Beloved.
Of course, I am not Egyptian and am asking this question as someone from the outside looking in.
