I never read the "in between" books. (There seems to be a bit of irony there....) Personally, I did not want to waste my time with forty pages of a bit of bonding. I read the entire series and The Lost Prince and did not miss out on anything by not reading those point whatever. I think you can get them for free since they are short. The Iron Knight is the last part of that series. When you are done with that and wish to keep reading, go on to The Lost Prince. I assure you all of your reading will pay off when you get to the end. :)
There's a paperback book that was released called The Iron Legends, which is basically a bind-up of Winters Passage, Summer's Crossing and Irons Prophecy. The first kiss, Ash's letter to Meghan and an Iron fey valentine are extras that the author has released free on her website. These aren't really essential to reading the series but I think they're really nice to read.
The ebooks, Winter's Passage, Summer's Crossing and Iron Prophecy, aren't NECESSARY to the plot, but they are referenced in the books that follow them. They're really not that long and don't take up much time to read, so if you can, I suggest you read them. It gives you a bit more insight. And then The Lost Prince is actually a new sub series, focusing on Ethan, Meghan's little brother. Iron's Prophecy you WILL want to read before you start Lost Prince, just because it explains a few things that you might question. The other stories are just little snippets that Julie wanted to write for the fans, they're not important to the story line, you won't be missing anything if you don't read them, but they're mostly just fluffy little things.
Aww thanx guys! I was totally shocked to find out the follow on series was about Ethan. I thought they were about Ash so I've been dreading the end of the iron knight, 'the lost prince' didn't exactly fill me with confidence!I'd like to read them. If I can find the compilation as well that'd be great because I could put it with the rest of my series, on my book shelf.
Hi Rachael! Didn't know that you had no idea about the main characters in The Lost Prince. I tried to go on with Ethan's story for I missed Prince Ash so much but I didn't feel the same vibe as reading the Iron Fey series.
If you can message me your email address, I can send you the Iron Legends... ;)
Nurlely, you are wonderful BUT I've bought the paperback XD couldn't help myself... its a little obsessive I know but all my favourites go on my faves shelf.. thank you though!!! :)
Hey just a quicky but does Ethan fall in love? Has he grown up? And do we see anything of Meghan? (Now I still haven't finished iron knight so still no giving anything away ; )

I stopped after page 50ish, so I didn't get to know every detail in the series. I was intrigued to read about Kieran, which is also in the series. Who didn't want to read about Ash-Meghan's gorgeous son?
But the series is about Ethan. And Yes, he falls in love, with a normal girl.
You are reading Iron Knight? Ohh... I want to read more about Ash and Iron Knight surely gives us more and more of Ash.. :)
Exactly! My copy will be on its way soon... I've nearly finished Iron Knight, only about 20 pages to go but oh man have I cried. I blubbed loads at the end of The Iron Queen when she made him leave :'( Julie Kagawa is a genius!
Rachael wrote: "Hey just a quicky but does Ethan fall in love? Has he grown up? And do we see anything of Meghan? (Now I still haven't finished iron knight so still no giving anything away ; )"in the lost prince yes he falls in love and she is human but there is something about her, cant say more without giving it away, and yes you will see some of ash and Meghan but I don't believe there are any chapters from their POV. but I TOTALLY recommend at least reading the iron prophecy, its very important in the story. it will fill you in a little in the book itself but I say read it first anyway!
also the second book in that series is due out on 10/29/13 and its called The Iron Traitor *GASP* I'm super excited and dreading it at the same time...!!

I don't think The Lost Prince is as awesome as the iron fey series (blame Ash for my addiction and my less interest for non-Ash LOL), but I am dying to read more about Kieran in The Iron Traitor!! I think Julie will write about Ash & Meghan when serving us with their gorgeous son.
I think I will read the Lost Prince before I read The Iron Traitor. Should be this month, for the Iron Traitor will be released next month.
I have got the iron prince and the iron legends on its way, iron legends has the iron prophecy... you lot are getting me super excited for the next series! And, just in case you haven't read it already I highly recommend The immortal rules!
I should have known that Julie Kagawa's fans would have answered the question without my checking to see if I could answer it. My daughter loves this series and keeps reminding me to get her a copy of Iron Traitor when it is released. ~ Kim S.

I am craving for World After by Susan Ee most and Allegiant by Veronica Roth.
The Immortal Rules is just absolutely brilliant.. It has everything you could possibly want! AND you will LOVE the main characters.. Go on, buy it and give it a try. I'd love to have a chat with you about it.

But I love Julie Kagawa so much and will support her by buying her books. I even looked for The Lost Prince on a bookstore yesterday. No success. I will look for it on another bookstore.
Do you befriend Julie on Facebook?
Hers is https://www.facebook.com/julie.kagawa...
It is too bad that due to her busy life now, she doesn't type on FB as much as before, but she has good personality and responded to fans whenever she could... :)

Italia8989, it's alot bigger than a vamp thing, I mean the main story is of course about vampires but its so much more than that. It's post apocalyptic, vampire/zombie/fantasy romance! The characters are amazing. Their personalities range from the absolutely best to the completely psychotic! Total mad men! I can't recommend it enough :)

I should get more educated on that since I am on my second book of one. Thanks for your description. It helped ease my stereotypical thoughts about vampires. (I thought Twilight was good, but after reading the entire series I was vampire-d out.)

I have read The Iron Daughter, The Iron King, The Iron Queen and I am now part way through The Iron Knight (Hence the no spoilers) and I'm confused as to where to go from here. Is there a book 5 or does it continue on too The Lost Prince (The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten,#1)
Also, there seems to be quite a few in between books:
The first Kiss (The Iron Fey, #1.25)
Winters Passage (The Iron Fey, #1.5)
Summer's crossing (The iron Fey, #3.5)
Ash's letter to Meghan (The Iron Fey, #3.6)
An Iron Fey Valentine (The Iron Fey, #4.4)
Iron's prophecy (The Iron Fey, #4.5)
Are any of them worth reading? Like are they proper paper backs or ebooks?
I just don't want to miss any out. Any help would be greatly appreciated..
