10D Book Reviews
My book is called The Stranger by Albert Camus. It was originally written in French in 1946. It is rather hard to say the most memorable thing about this book as I haven't finished reading it yet. However I noticed that the main protagonist seems to simply not care about anything really and i find that rather strange and funny at the same time. Also the sudden story change woke me up from a previously slow starting story when the protagonist shoots the Arab man. I do not know if i would read other books by this author because as i said before, i have not finished reading it. However, with my limited knowledge of the book, i do not think I would read any other books by this author because it was given to me by Mr. Patterson and before that I have never been recommended this author or even heard of him. However so far I do find the story to be rather interesting in its portrayal of the protagonist and the story seems to have sped up a bit. However I do predict that the story will speed up and i enjoy a fast paced story. So as of right now I probably would not recommend it but in the future i believe my opinion will change.
My book is called Catching Fire by Suzane Collins. The most memorable part about this book was the 2nd hungers that Katniss has to compete in, but this time there is no victor. Yes i would read other books from this author because this book was very interesting to me.
My book is called A Separate Peace by John Knowles. It's about two boys who are best friends that slowly turn against one another. One of the boys also known as the main character is Gene. His best friend is Phineas also known as Finny. The most memorable part of this book would be when Phineas died. That struck me really hard, because I never thought he would never die in the story. In the end, he dies and Gene moves on to how this world is horrible and only special people like Finny have true happiness. Kind of reminds me of how good people always die or get conditions that make their life suffer. I usually don't read books by the same author but I wouldn't mind reading a book by John Knowles again. I really don't care either way. It's not that I don't want to, it's just that when I read books by the same author, it usually doesn't bring the experience like the previous book did. I would recommend this book to other people because it brought a sense of how it feels to be the best we can be and yet being shadowed by someone who's better. Being done with the book, I am now reading a new book which is called "Midnight Voices". I'm not feeling anything for the book since I just started it, but I hope that I'll like it and want to read it again. A Separate Peace
My book was Dog Sees God by Bert V Royal. It is about Charlie Brown when he is a teenager. After being Charlie Brown in a show I really connect with this play because I can relate to almost all of the story lines within the book and it is so great to see what Bert V Royal imagined Charlie Brown would be like when he grew up. The most memorable part about my book was towards the end when Charlie Brown's Pen Pal finally sends him a letter back for the first time ever. This is Bert V Royal only well known play and I haven't read anything else by him, but I would love to. Dog Sees God is such an amazing book and I love it so much and I hope to read more like it or by the same author in the future!Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead
My book is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzergerald. It is set in the 1920s. The main character, Nick Carraway, moves to the east (to West Egg) and gets a job in the bond business. His cousin, Daisy, lives across from him on East Egg. She is married to a wealthy man named Tom Buchanan. In his time in West Egg, Long Island, he meets his neighbor who is a fabulously wealthy and mysterious man named Jay Gatsby. Gatsby often throws lavish parties at his mansion in West Egg. So far the most memorable part of this book are the detailed descriptions of the fabulous wealth of both Buchanan and Gatsby. I haven't read too far into this book yet but it is a finely crafted novel and widely considered a classic. So far I love it, it is well written and uses many complex words that make it challenging and fun to read. I would recommend this book to anybody who enjoys a well-written novel. I would read other books by this author because he knows how to develop characters and settings very well.
The screenplay i just finished reading was called Beggars INC. by Bob and Dick Kalich. It is about a young man who started out successful graduating 1st of his class in harvard and begins his career in business and struggles to find ideas. On his journey he meets new people who propose an idea using people who have a certain talent in NYC. I will seriously recommend anyone to see this play if it ever goes anywhere since you cant read the screenplay. It is filled with twists and turns that you would never see coming. From romance to comedy from violence to preppy dinners with snotty people this screenplay has it and it is only the 1st draft, not even a complete play which it will evolve into.
I finished the book A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. I would recommend it to everyone. Its a great book filled with violence, strange slang both made up and from other languages, and just this amazing mind of the main character named Alex. He seems very smart and like he could be a very great person once you get to know him and you start to know that there is more than just violence to him. I just really like how disturbing, thought provoking, and engaging the book. Its just brilliant. A couple other things that are great is that you start understanding the slang based on the context and start read it like it wasn't slang. He really put it in context well enough that you need to read and you will figure it out if you think. All the characters are very well thought up as well and made to seem a little less than they are, Alex being a prime example. But as you get to know more... it gets very interesting. Or at least it did for me. Just overall it is a very well written book, nothing I would change. I would love to read some more work of Anthony Burgess. I have looked at some of his other works but I have a couple books already lined up so I will have to read them after.
I recently finished the book Shadows in the Twilight by Henning Mankell an it was really interesting but confusing at times. I guess since it was the second book from the series I should have read the first one before. It is about a 12 year old boy named Joel who experiences a miracle(getting hit by a truck and surviving with not one scratch) but his dad doesn't believe in miracles. It was also quite boring at times because there was no action or anything entertaining. I would say that it was lifeless. I looked into reading the first one but decided I would rather read something with more content and action. Shadows in the Twilight
I just finished the libretto of Pippin, a musical. It is a amazing book, and I completely understand why it always wins every award that it is nominated for. The show is about Charlemagne's son, Pippin, and his journey to finding his corner of the sky. Through out the book, Pippin becomes king, finds love, and sings a few songs. It is an amazing show and I hope that all of you are able to see, read, hear it in the future!Pippin
For this book review, I'll will be talking about a book I just recently finished called "Midnight Voices". At first I thought the book was going for the same storyline that other horrors do, however, it began to change in a new way. Storyline began to change, my view on the antagonist changed. Something I don't normally find in any book. Then again, I don't many books so I guess I can't say much. Back to the book, It's about a mother of two named Caroline who just went through her husband being killed. While she tries to survive with the little money she has, she meets her new husband. Later on, her two children; Laurie and Ryan who come to suffer the torture brought by Caroline's new husband and his strange neighbors. After finding out what he's been doing, Caroline tries to stop it, but ends up failing. As a result, being sent to a mental institution with nowhere to go. Thankfully, Ryan sneaks out and frees his mom out of the institution, and they both save Laurie from being further tortured. After nearly escaping the haunted building, they call the cops and end up not capturing anyone. Oh, I forgot, when Caroline and Ryan go back to rescue Laurie, Caroline kills the doorman by cutting his throat open. Personally, I thought that was pretty awesome. In the end, they don't find anyone, five years pass, the kids have gotten over it, and Caroline is still mauling over it. After finishing "Midnight Voices", I was satisfied with result and story telling that John Saul has brought me. In case you don't know, John Saul wrote the book.
My book is called The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. I feel that someone who is in to dark and shadowy books would enjoy this book because the main plot is about a boy whose family was killed when he was a baby and ended up being raised by ghost. Being raised by ghost though causes him not to fit in with the real world so he is trying to find his place. Later on you find out that the real reason behind the murder of his family. I could read anotherone of Neil Gaiman's books because I was always interested in the this dark genre.
The book I read is called The Perks of Being a Wallflowerand I think its one of my favorite books I've read. Its about a boy named Charlie who has been through a lot and doesn't really know about what he has been through at the beginning of the book because he has blocked it all out I assume. But he starts high school and is worried about making friends due to his awful summer where he lost his best and really only friend due to his suicide. But he goes through and meets two people named Patrick and Sam and he then joins their friend circle, all being senior. They go through a lot together and they all get really close until Charlie starts to date Mary Elizabeth. He didn't want to date after the dance but they did and he ended it in the worst way you could. He then doesn't talk to them for two weeks and gets bad again. It goes on and they all become friends again and get closer and closer again.
I don't think I could choose a part that was most memorable about the book. Everything about this book is so perfect and great and amazing in every way. Its just such a great book. I recommend it to everybody. Honestly I feel like I don't want to read any other books by this author because I would be looking forward to something with The Perks Of Being A Wallflower standard and would make it less of an experience. I would read his next book out of curiosity since he doesn't actually have any other books out except for this strange biography on himself and what happened when his book got published.
The book I read is called It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. Another one of my favorites about a boy named Craig who has been having some problems and going through a tough time. He has depression and eating disorders. The majority of the story he is in a hospital with a bunch of people who seem to be crazy and he feels as if he doesn't belong. But after a while they become a huge part of the story.
I think my favorite part is when they finally have a pizza party in the hospital and it makes everyone happy, while Craig is glad he made it happen. Its that or when Craig and Noelle run through the hospital disguised trying to get to the roof for some air, it leads to a very cute moment.
I would read more books by this author. I'm curious to read more by him. I like the way he thinks, writes, and just makes the book so great. Can't wait for another book.
My most recent book that i read was called Decoded by Jay-Z. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves the art of rap and music. The book has many parts where he shows how he connects his music to real everyday life. He shows the struggles and cons of growing up in a tough neighborhood with many influences from others. The most memorable part of the book was the beginning because it starts the book with a special moment of his life and i read it over and over again. I think i would read other books by this author but i highly doubt he will write anymore and he will focus more on business.Decoded
5 stars!
My most recent book that i read is The Boy in Striped Pajamas. I would recommend this book to EVERYONE. That's right EVERYONE. For starters the book is not very long. The story is so GREAT. I was hooked from the start. The book is about a Boy who's father is a general in the Nazi army. In the beginning of the book, the boy and his family Move. As the boy explores his new Neighborhood, he finds a Jew camp. This book's story is so great, i read this book 4 times, and I'm not much of a reader. This books looks at World War II is such a unique way , it's just fantastic. The Boy in the Striped PajamasJohn Boyne
I am reading the book the great Gatsby. it is about a young and wealthy man named Jay Gatsby who lives in a mansion in the west egg, and his long lost love, Daisy, lives on the other side of the river. Gatsby throws amazing parties in hope she comes. When Nick Carraway moves in next door to Gatsby, he realizes that nick is related to Daisy and he might be able to get reconnected with her. i would definitely read the authors other books because he writes in great detail and the plots of his stories are interesting. the most memorable about this book is toward the end when nick, Gatsby, Daisy, and Daisys husband are all in a hotel in the city arguing. The Great Gatsby
I just finished reading Will Greyson, Will Greyson. The book is about two boys, both named Will Greyson. One of the boys, tries to blend in while being best friends with the most popular kid in school and the other boy is gay, and the majority of the book is about him chatting online with other guys. I really like this book because it is written by two different authors, and one of the authors uses proper grammar and syntax, and the other doesnt
My book is Marked and I don't have a most memorable moment. There are many moments where I enjoy the book. I mostly enjoy it because it is fantasy. One enjoyable moment was when they were explaining the weapons to Zoey. I also like getting to know Zoey. It helps your connect with the character. When Zoey finds out her destiny it provides a shocking twist. This twist engages you and makes you want to keep reading. I like how they give detail on the mark she bears. I would read other books by this authors because they have a unique way of connecting with the audience. It captivates you and makes you feel like your in the story. I would also enjoy reading other books by them if it is fiction. I enjoy fiction and fantasy. This is a book that I think most people will enjoy. I highly recommend this book.Marked
I finished reading Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris. The most memorable part of this book to me is when he goes through art school. He goes through a brief stint of using meth, and starts to make experimental art. This is very important to the story because he is going through changes. He is very proud when his art is accepted by a museum because he wants to make his parents proud. However, they do not approve of it. I would recommend this book to anyone because it is extremely funny and a true story. I would read other books by this author, he is a witty and talented author. Me Talk Pretty One Day
I finished reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. The most memorable part about this book is it's humor. It is a satirical novel and often uses sarcasm which i personally find amusing. I would read other books by this author because I have an 800 page version which includes his other books in this series. That means I really only have to read this one collection for the whole semester. Otherwise I find it amusing and if I were to have to read I would read this series. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the GalaxyDouglas Adams
I just finished reading A Mango-Shaped Space by wendy mass. It was an emotion filled book that could make a person see the world differently at times. The most memorable thing of the book is when mia sees colors when she hears things. I think i would read other books by wendy mass because her style of writing is different and unique. A Mango-Shaped Space Wendy Mass
4stars
I finished dynasty by Lew Freedman. The most memorable part of the book is when they win the championship over and over again. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes basketball. It tells the reader about the dynasty that the Boston celtics had put together. The book also has moments that make you think about how the team had revolutionized the sport. I would read more books by this author. He seems like an author that writes about different teams in different views. Dynasty: The Rise of the Boston Celtics
3 stars
The book that I am currently reading is called Things Fall Apart byChinua Achebe. So far this book has not only been circled around the main character but also the events that have happened to people around him and that is what stood out to me. I like the fact that the book explains that Okonkwo, the main character, is not cold heaerted but after his father was such a failure he refuses to allow failure in his home. I would give this book 4.5 stars
I am reading Betrayed. This book is memorable because it continues the series. There was a huge plot twist and people were keeping secrets. I would read more book by this author. I would like to finish the series.
Looking For Alaska is a fantastic book starring Miles "Pudge" Halter trying to find the "Great Perhaps". People should read this book for the amazing writing, the characters, and the story. Pudge goes to a boarding school and meets some fantastic people and some not so good people. Its all leads to something that changes his life completely and not for the better. I would read more books by this author, I have, and I love them all. The next I have to read is called the Fault In Our Stars. John Green is just an amazing author. His writing is great, the stories, the everything is perfect and there is no way I would change any of these books.
I just finished listening to Tommy's Tale, a book by Alan Cumming. The book is about a bisexual twenty something London hipster, who likes drugs, clubs, sex. The book follows him as he tries to escape love, and relationships, and how he continuously goes to bars and has sex with random guys, and girls. This would be the entire books plot, but then Tommy finds himself in a midlife crisis when he starts to have sex with Charlie, who he later realizes has an 8 year old son. The book is very interesting because it is told from Tommy's point of view, and tells you what he says, and then goes right back into Tommy's head to see what he thought about what he just said. I would definitely suggest anyone to read this amazing light read
I have just completed reading Chrysler’s Turbine Car by Steve Lehto. This book it filled with fun facts and crazy twists about the car. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves cars and learning about things that the government has shut down. The book has many facts from the car being able to run off anything with alcohol in it to the car being discontinued because the government shut them down. The most memorable thing that the book mentioned was that the car coud run off anything that has alcohol in it. This was a fact that blew my mind because imagine putting old kerosene into your car and then just taking off. Imagine running out of gas on the highway, and you see an old bottle of tequila in your trunk and pour it into your gas tank. Imagine the possibilities that this car could do with todays technology and a jet engine under the hood. I would read other books by this author because we share a passion for cars.Chrysler's Turbine Car: The Rise and Fall of Detroit's Coolest Creation
4 stars
I just read the book the secret life of bees, its about a young white female, Lily owens who ran away from her neglectful and abusive father in the mid 1960's with her maid Rosaleen. They begin to walk toward tiburon, North Carolina when she sees something from her childhood so she goes there and discovers many things about her mother. The most memorable thing from the book is when lily discovers she accidently killed her mother as a child. i would read other books by this author because the plot ideas are interesting. The Secret Life of Bees
I am finished reading the book Jack's Run by Roland Smith. What I found most memorable about the book is that Jack/Zack/Mack is struggling with his life being changed again because of the fact that he is in the Witness Protection program. I would enjoy reading more books from this author because most of his books are about teenagers dealing with problems that most adults would deal with.
My book is the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. What I found most memorable is probably the end of the Hunger Games when Katniss found out that she had started/inspired an uprising and she had to fix it. I would recommend it because most people have seen the movie but not as many people have read the book. Many of the details were omitted in the movie. It shows some of the back story and explains a lot. I did enjoy reading the other books because once you read the first one you can't just leave and not know what else is going to happen. Part of it was probably because I was stuck in a car for 6 hours twice without a phone but otherwise I found it pretty interesting.
My book is called Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. What I found most memorable was when Katniss was taken from the arena and she was informed that District 13 existed and how all the other districts were rebelling. I would recommend this because even though the movie was good I still think that the book has more details and does a better job of conveying certain things. However, I think this is generally true for most movie adaptations of books. I have read other books by this author and I did so because this is part of a trilogy and reading one book out of a trilogy is hard to do because most books end with cliffhangers and I like knowing the ending to books.
My book is called Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. It is the third book in the Hunger Games Trilogy. What I found most memorable is probably that this is the ending to the series so it was satisfying to finish it. However I didn't like this book as much as the others because it seems to have a slower pace than the others. I tend to like faster paced books. However, I still think it is very interesting. I have read other books by this author in the same trilogy and have found them all to be good.
I finished reading Maus I : A Survivor's Tale : My Father Bleeds History by Art Spiegelman and it was very good. The book is a real story about Art Spiegelman's father's struggle during the Holocaust. It was very sad to read about the things that people did during this time. This was a great book and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to hear a tragic and real story. I would enjoy reading more from Art because he is very talented and a smart author.
Wow, it's been awhile since i put up a book review. Well i just want to present a book that changed my view on things. This book is called Shadows by John Saul. This is my second book I've read that's been written by John Saul and i have to say that he's still hasn't lost his touch. In Shadows, the main character, Josh is an genius who gets bullied in school. He finds that he has nothing in common with his peers and that every teacher favors him which makes all the other students jealous. He then sees that the only way to escape this horrible life is to kill himself. Later on, his mom saves him and Josh is shipped to a academy for kids just like him. Josh makes new friends and enjoys the academy. That's until a boy named Adam commits suicide and Josh starts to question on why a kid would do such a thing when the Academy provides everything. We then find out there's more to this academy then it seems and the twists give such amazement i can't even describe it. The most memorable part of this book is seeing how these kids think, it just shatters my mind on how smart these kids are. There easily smarter than me and again how they think is outstanding. Like i stated before, i will still read books from John Saul just for his skill on development on characters. I would recommend this book to anyone to who wants to be entertained and want a book that keeps on giving more twists in the plot. Shadows
This time i present a book that came out not that long ago. This book is called Doctor Sleep by Stephen King, yes the famous writer that is a legend when it comes to horror. I personally love Stephen King because he wrote a lot of horror stories that became movies. I think i saw all those movies and i loved every single one. I love horror so much, the creepiness, the gore, the blood, people dying in the best ways possible. However, when it comes to Doctor Sleep, Stephen King doesn't even think about horror. At most, this book is an fantasy. i mean that's ok, but i expect Stephen King to stick to what he does best. Anyways, this book is an great book, so much story, and so much detail in every paragraph. This book starts of with a boy named Danny Torrence who is born with the "shining". This ability gives young Danny the power to see the dead. People who died, but haven't quite moved on. Therefore, they cause harm to the living until they pass on. This is just the first couple of pages in the book. Doctor Sleep has so much plot, its a lot to absorb in at once. I had to get really into the book in order to understand what's going on. Then again, it's not that to get into it because the way Stephen King tells this story is remarkable. The reader meets so many characters and gets to witness so many events that happen in the story. I can explain so much more, but that would give too much on what it's about, i think you should read this book because it's a experience that you should go through. I'm not being over dramatic with this, i beg of you, please read this book, it's crazy and it makes you relate to the characters in ways you would never think of. I will and forever read all the books that is written by Stephen King. The most memorable part of this book is the book itself. It's just that amazing, those who want a great book and want something that keeps throwing twists at you, this book will not waste your time. Doctor Sleep
I read the book Before I Fall, its about a teenage girl; Samantha Kingston who dies in a car accident and has to relive the day she dies. waking up everyday even if she doesn't die in a car accident. The most memorable part in the book is toward the end when she realizes the only way to save her life is to save some else's. i would read another book by this author because she writes in detail and makes you visualize what is happening. Before I Fall
I read the book the fault in our stars by john green. its about a teenage girl named grace who was diagnosed with cancer and is just letting it slowly kill her because she believes she will die soon and there is nothing to stop it. Until she meets augustus waters, he makes her want to keep living and fight her cancer. the most memorable part in the book is when grace first meets augustus in the group therapy for cancer patients. I would read other books by this author because the story plots are very different. The Fault in Our Stars
I read another book by John Green called the The Fault in Our Stars. Its about a sixteen year old girl named Hazel who has been diagnosed with lung cancer. She has been through many types of medicine and goes to this support group every now and then. She has a friend named Isaac there who lost one of his eyes to cancer at a young age. But one time Isaac brings his friend Augustus Waters. She gets curious about him and eventually the start getting closer and closer. They share many experiences until about 3/4th through the book when something awful and terrible happens. This was a fantastic book and I recommend it to everyone.
I read the bookChosen by PC Cast. This is the the third book in the House of night series. Chosen talks a lot more about Zoey's school life and personal life. This book also further goes into detail about the people of Faith. The were a group I wanted to know more about. It shows how they feel about living with vampires. They start killing them and try to erase them from the world. It also gives a story within a story. The way PC Cast combined Zoey's school life with her outside life was creative. It gave us two stories to follow The most memorable moment was when Neferet declared war on the vampires. This was something no one saw coming. This bought a shocking turn around and makes you want to read the next book. I am reading other books by this author. I would also love to read more books by this author. She has a creative mind and finds interesting ways to combine elements. She can take to completely unrelated things and make them relate in a simple way. I would recommend this book and the series to everyone.
I read the book About the Author by John Colapinto. It is a great and suspenseful book about a man named Cal who is a struggling author who lives with his roommate, a law student. He tells his life story to the law student, Stewart, who himself turns out to be a better writer than Cal. He discovers that Stewart had written a book about his life story, not crediting him. Soon after, Stewart dies in a car accident. Cal steals Stewart's script for a book and becomes a famous millionaire off of it. He marries the woman of his dreams, who also happens to be Stewart's ex-girlfriend. But his perfect life is threatened when a girl from Cal's past has proof he stole the book and blackmails him. This is a suspenseful thriller of a book and I could not put it down once it got to the really exciting part. It was also written by my best friend's dad, which is pretty cool. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read an exciting and well-written novel.
I just finished reading the scripts to an Israeli television program called Prisoner of War written by Gideon Raff. This show is the inspiration for the American television program Homeland on Showtime. I love the show Homeland which was my original inspiration for reading Prisoner of War. The story follows two soldiers return home after being held captive for many years. Only two of the three POW come back alive. The story shows how these two soldiers come back to normal life and get use to the new norms, but also dealing with heavy trauma from being held captive. The script for this show keeps you on your feet even though you sort of have an idea of how everything is going to end, which is what I love about a lot of shows. I would definitely recommend this to anyone
im reading The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsby ann brashares it is about four girls who have bee best friends since the day they were born literally. their parents met in an aerobics class for pregnant women. one summer they all split up, Lena goes to Greece, Bridget goes to a soccer camp in mexico, Carmen goes to south Carolina to see her dad, and Tibby stays home. this is there first year apart and a pair of jeans keeps them together.
I am reading Untamed by PC Cast. It is the 4th book in the house of night series. This book focuses on Zoey internally. In this book she feels a sense of darkness rush inside of her. She begins to change as if she is becoming evil. She tries to act normally so her friends wouldn't be suspicious. The most memorable moment was when Zoey's grandmother sent her a poem. The poem was in code and when they deciphered the poem it warned of a monster. The monster was a fallen angel. It also warned her of half raven half humans who were allied was the fallen angel. I would love to read more by PC Cast. Every book in the house of night series just get better. She knows how to develop storylines. She can make sub character still have a major role in the story. I would recommend this book.
I am reading Gregor the Overlander by Suzan Collins. This is the first book in the Gregor the Overlander series. It is about a young boy who finds a secret gate in his laundry room. The gate leads underneath New York city. It takes him into a whole new world. He meet talking creatures along the way. He meets an insect and a rat that has a lot of knowledge of combat. When he reaches the underground city he told he is a boy of prophecy. He is suppose to be a warrior and he doesn't know how to accept this at first. There he meet an old man who tells him the history of the underland. He also meet a girl named Luxa she becomes his companion on his quest. He also befriends a bat. The most memorable moment was when Gregor read the prophecy. He was not able to understand it and it gave you something to think about through out the whole book. Suzan Collins is an amazing author. I would love to read the rest of the series. I would recommend the book to anyone.
I am reading The Merchant of Death by D.J. MacHale. It is the beggining of the 10 book Pendragon series. The book is about Bobby Pendragon, a boy who finds out that he is a traveler, someone capable of space-time travel to different territories through the usage of flumes. His goal is to work with the other travelers to stop Saint Dane from plunging the different territories into chaos. In the first book, the Milago are slaves to the Bedoowan and are plotting a revolution. Bobby finds out that they plan to use an insanely powerful mineral called tak to win. Realizing the danger of tak, he prevents the complete destruction of the Milago and Bedoowan people.1.) I would very much recommend the book to people if they like fantasy/sci-fi/adventure books. It has a good plot that keeps the reader on their toes.
2.) The most memorable part of the book to me was Saint Dane. He was a very cold character with malicious intent and no heart. The part about him that I like is his origins and how he acts in the later books though.
3.) I would read other books by this author because, well because I would need to finish the other books in his series! He has a very creative mind and, as mentioned before, keeps readers on their toes.
Book Review 2 & 3 (as the book exceeds 380 pages, as you specified): The Lost City of Faar by D.J. MacHale. The 2nd installment in the series. Bobby, defeating Saint Dane in the previous book, follows him to the ocean territory of Cloral. There, he tries to unravel Saint Dane's plan as he learns more about the territory and about being a traveler. In the territory, people live on enormous barges called "habitats". Everything starts to go wrong when 2 habitats crash into each other, only for Bobby to realize that everyone on the habitat that crashed into the one he was on was already dead due to poison. Bobby finds about a legend of an underwater city called Faar and seeks it out. Upon finding it, he pleads for the Faarians to help with the situation, only for for Faar to be attacked and destroyed. Bobby still manages to escape, and saves Cloral in the end.1.) I would very much recommend the book to people if they like fantasy/sci-fi/adventure books. It has a good plot that keeps the reader on their toes.
2.) My favorite part about the book is the way that MacHale explains the way that the Clorans live. It is very interesting and marvelous.
3.) I would read other books by this author because I would need to finish the other books in his series! He has a very creative mind and keeps readers on their toes.
Book review 4: The Never War by D.J. MacHale. In the 3rd installment of Pendragon, Bobby goes to another territory, this time set in New York city, 1937! Bobby uncovers Saint Dane's plot, but can he stop it. Bobby realizes that stopping the plot of Saint Dane will have serious repercussions in the future, leading to the success of the Nazi party! /forced to make a difficult choice, Bobby decides to sacrifice a handful of innocents for the greater good.1.) I still recommend the Pendragon series, especially this book. It crosses many controversial themes.
2.) What was memorable was the choice that Bobby had to make in order to keep the peace of the territories. I feel that it was good character development.
3.) I would still love to read more books by MacHale.
A little while ago I finished reading the book May the Foreskin Be With You: Why Circumcision Makes No Sense and What You Can Do About It by Alan Cumming, who also wrote Tommy's Tale, one of my most recent favorite reads. What I find so great about his book is that it is written in both an autobiographical way, and a non-fiction book about child mutilation when it comes to circumcision. I would recommend this book to anyone who isn't afraid of reading about penises. When I first found out about this book, I didn't want to read it, the only reason I found out about it was because of its author, and because I read Tommy's Tale, but when I read a brief section of it and I saw the multiple different tones and narrating techniques I searched long and hard to find a copy of this book so I could read it. I would love to read more books by Alan Cumming in the future because I love his style and what he talks about in all of his books and I would love for more people to read this amazingly written book!
Book Review 5: The Reality Bug by D.J. MacHale. One of my most favorite books. Bobby goes to Veelox, a deserted territory due to everyone living inside virtual reality machines. Food starts to become scarce, the cities are in ruin, and people are dying in the machines. One of Bobby's fellow travelers, Aja, creates a Virus to try to wreck the system so that people will come back out but it goes horribly wrong. Saint Dane rigged the bug so that the barrier between fantasy and reality starts to tear itself apart,. With the help of the creator of the VR system, Bobby stops Saint Dane and makes everyone start living back in the real world.1.) I recommend this book especially as it takes on the very interesting concept of virtual reality.
2.) Again, the VR concept is a very interesting one to me, making it memorable.
3.) I would still love to read more books by MacHale.
