A good plot means a good story. Ask and i'll help.
This is basically the planning of the story. I find that if i just write off the top of my head the story would slowly crumble and collapse into an abyss of no-return. ^^. I try my best with planning. Characters are one of the most important part of your plot but not the ONLY one. Lets not forget other stuff like the plot itself.
I have recently learned that having an external conflict is extremely important. This means that one of your characters must make a decision that would ultimately either mean the end of the world, or the savior of it. For eaxmple, the character must choose whether to side with group A or group B if the character chooses wrong then there would be war and the world would self destruct or w/e. In romance for example, the girl must choose whether to listen to her dad about not going out with a guy because he fears for her saftey or w/e (not important until later) OR she could date the guy behind her dad's back. If she chooses the guy she may be hurt and betrayed, if she chooses her dad she'd loose a guy that she loved, get it? sort of? no??? should i make a post for it?
also. if this is a fantasy world we're talking bout. you gotta know where the person is and the history. i mean... in eragon the author came up with a whole hhistory how the dragons died cause bthe king did this adn the elves did that...that paved the way for a brilliant series. For example. I have created a map, a mythology/history (yet to be determined if real or not ;) XD) and i have a basic history that i will develop when i can bother to. probably when i'm home alone and high on coffee ^^. point is. a fantasy world without a history is like a lind ball without the amaszing chocolate inside. (^^ he he, see what i did therE?)
any other points i should add? please sk and tell me. if you think any of the points above are important, please tell me so i can expand on a diff. topic.
