Kara tugged at the hem of her black dress, mentally kicking herself for having worn this silly thing. Though she knew the reason why she'd worn it. It was to fit in. Sipping slowly on her Cherry Coke, she scanned the club, a look of confidance on her face. Even though she was far from feeling confidant on the inside.
Marco sat in a pair of jeans and a jacket, not caring whether or not he blended in. That's not why he was here. He needed information and there were only so many ways to get it, none of which that he was particularly skilled in. But he had to try, what else was there to do? Already, he has talked to three Downworlders here, but they didn't have what he was looking for. Again, he had come up short. His eyes continued to cover the club, looking for anyone who would have what he wanted.
As Kara's eyes scanned the club she noticed someone she recognized, a Shadowhunter she'd seen at the institute. She wanted to get up and talk to him, say his maybe, but she figured he wouldn't remember her. Not many people did. Either that or they remembered her for the wrong reasons. In the end she stayed put. Maybe if he remembered her he'd come say hi. Well, a girl could dream couldn't she?.
Marco felt eyes on him and turned in that direction. Turns out that one of the shadowhunters from the institute was here. Of course he knew her name, most people did. Maybe she had information, it was a possibility. What if she refused to talk to him? He didn't exactly have a good reputation at the institute. He was known for drinking, which is what Marco tells people he does when he goes to Pandemonium. It was a chance he was willing to risk. He got up and casually walked over, smiling slightly. "Hey Kara," he said casually before sitting himself down on a stool next to her.
Kara felt like jumping out of her skin when Marco came over to her. She had a feeling most Shadowhunters at the institute found her weird, no matter how hard she tried to fit in, so she hadn't expected him to come over. "Hey," she said smoothly, smiling faintly at him as she watched him sit next to her. "What brings you here?"
Marco grinned sideways before shrugging, making himself comfortable in the stool. "The music, refreshments?" he answered, winking. He called a waitress over and ordered two drinks. "What pleasure do I have finding you here?" he asked casually, his white teeth flashing in a smile. By looking at him, you might suspect him to be slightly intoxicated, but that was only if you didn't know him.
Kara felt her cheeks warm up instantly when he winked at her, but she tried to quickly hide the blush with a casual flip of her hair. She laughed smoothly at that. "Yes, bescause the repetitive club music is so alluring." she said sarcastically, a grin playing on her lips. "A girls gotta take a break from training at some point." she answered with a slight shrug of her shoulders.
Marco chuckled and nodded. "That it true, so maybe not the music," he said casually, taking the drinks from the waitress. "So what your telling me is that your slacking off," he said, humor slipping into his voice, clear that he was only messing with her. Why not? It was fun, but it could only last so long. He needed information, and if she didn't have it, then it was on to the next.
Kara could feel herself becoming fixated on his every move. She rolled her eyes playfully and flashed a quick smile before answering. "Hardly, I in that training room almost twenty-four seven," she reminded him.
Marco nodded slowly and shrugged. "I wouldn't know, I'm never in there," he said half joking. "Guess I'll have to take your word for it then," he said, finger on the rim of his glass, watching the bubbles flow up to the top before returning his eyes towards Kara. "So I take it your pretty smart then, no?"
Kara looked at him quizically, her eyebrow arched. "I suppose so, why do you ask?" she asked, not taking her eyes off of him.
Marco lifted his hands up in a weak surrender before shrugging followed by a classic grin. "So many questions, " he said before placing his elbows on his knees. "How much do you know about the dark, corrupt shadowhunter?" he asked curiously
Kara's eyebrow raised up slightly further. "Do you mean Sebastian, or I mean Johnathan Morgenstern?" she asked, taking the other glass Marco had ordered and looking at it curiously. She wasn't quite sure what the liquid was, but she was pretty sure it wasn't soda.
Marco sighed, mainly to himself. Maybe this girl wasn't as bright as he had suspected. "No I mean Elvis Presley," he said sarcastically, watching her take his other glass. Fine by him. "Yes I mean Johnathan," he said after a moment. "You know they are still out there? Don't you? Why else would you be forced to train so hard everyday?"
Kara gave Marco a slightly irritated look though a grin played on her lips. "Yes, I know that. Im sure most Shadowhunters do," she said matter-of-factly. "Why do you ask? You're not looking for a fight are you?"
Marco chuckled softly. "Oh of course not, I'm not an idiot. Looking for a fight with them would be something only an idiot would do. And I'm no idiot," he assured her calmly, his calloused fingers locked together on his knees. "Just simply seeking information." Which was the truth, only not the whole truth. More of a simplified version: vague.
"Really?" Kara questioned as she lifted the glass and took a sip of it. It was definitely something she had never drank before, but she didn't want to let Marco know that. "I'll help you the best I can, but you'll need to tell me what it is you're looking for."
Marco nodded in response to her accusation and in satisfaction, pleased that he had gotten even this far. Most people had no clue, no information on this. "Anything, any information you have. Number, location, plans, rumors, or last seen and heard of. I've heard that they have been idle for some time, but we all know that will not last forever."
"Well Im not sure how much help I'll be," Kara said, setting the drink down and brushing her hair out of her face. "I've heard rumors that they've got a place they meet, an old warehouse or something like that. But thats just a rumor." she said with a shrug.
Marco nodded slowly, at least it was information. "Would you happen to know where that is?" he asked curiously. If he could find evidence that the dark shadowhunters were in fact there, he could attempt to use a tracking spell. Though his intentions would cause him trouble with the institute, he didnt care. He would risk everything for this; which in reality wasn't anything.
Kara bit her lip gently as she thought about it. "Not exactly sure. I've heard a warehouse by some people, but the one I hear the most is a mundane bar on the lower east-side." she said after some thought. She was curious to know what Marco was up to, but she also didn't want to pry.
Marco nodded, thinking these two locations through his head. If less people said the warehouse, that's where he was going. "How do you get to the warehouse?" he questioned after a moment, not caring if he sounded suspicious. What was she going to do? Turn him into the institute? Absolutely not, especially on such little information. That, and the girl wasn't eight years old. ((So we can either have Kara follow Marco, or he can ask her to show him where it's at and spy on him. You know, if ya want XD ))
Kara took another sip of her drink, "Yeah, Im pretty sure I know where the warehouse is," she said, flipping her hair out of her face. "Why?" she asked curiously.
"Could you give me an address or do you not know?" Marco started off asking, his mind already thinking of possibilities and plans that only a sober mind could conjugate. "As to why, only research."
"I only know the general area, not the exact address." Kara said as she set the drink down. "I could show you if you want," she said, wanting to be as helpful as possible. After all he was being so nice to her right now. "And you don't have to lie to me, research can't possible be the only reason."
Marco nodded slowly, not loving the idea of the girl coming along with him. He was sure he could either loose or ditch her when the time came. He pushed off his stool and stood up, turning to face Kara. "I never said it was the only reason," he said with a grin and a repeated raise and decent of his eyebrows. Leaving money for the drinks, before stepping away from the bar.
Kara grinned, slightly surprised but glad that he hadn't just told her nevermind. She got up and followed after him quickly, so many questions on her mind. The number one was why. Why were they going to this place, and without permisson, wouldn't they get in trouble?
Marco heard Kara follow behind him, not surprised that se didn't bail. No shadowhunter in their right mind would; they wouldn't want to be labeled or thought less of. He left Pandemonium, his drink on the counter left full. ((I don't think that there is a streets topic or anything to continue on. Are the MODs on? Should we request a new thread? (: ))
