Sonia (stixaz) I just finished, Joyland and I really enjoy reading books with a carnival/amusement park setting. Any good suggestions for other books with this as a main setting? I've read and also enjoyed Twilight Eyes, Something Wicked This Way Comes

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) | 797 comments I thought Joyland was pretty good to.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 960 comments I think Dean Koontz had another one with a carnival theme but can't remember the name?

I also love the carnival and amusement park theme

Bryan Smiths Freakshow fits the bill but sadly I can't recommend the book as I personally disliked it

Mine is "Coulrophobia," on Amazon for 99 cents, and probably not precisely what you're looking for. "Coulrophobia" is the technical term for the phobia of clowns.

Heather | 356 comments You can also find some pretty cool pictures abandoned carnivals and some profoundly interesting bits of carnival history and trivia, lying here and there about the internet.

Under "real life."

One of the more well-known is the one near Prypiat, the town Chernobyl made famous. It never even opened.

Mark Matthews (xmarkm) | 269 comments If you're interested in some cool, shorter fiction. The website "Pen and Muse" is putting on a Dark Carnival month of October. Every friday features some dark carnival fiction. Here's the link:

This book has an amusement park theme to it and it was pretty good.

Kelly B (kellybey) | 630 comments FantasticLand by Mike Bockoven is set in a theme park, and is a great book. I couldn't put it down. It's sort of spendy, so you might want to see if you can get it from the library (I had my library get it for me through ILL).

Aaron Archer | 36 comments Another fan of Joyland here, though it wasn't really scary. There is something about this kind of setting that really appeals.
