What did you all think? I'm on the fence. Actor is something to look at, but not sure they can keep it up. Wish they would have kept it in historical setting somehow, or that they keep going back....

Yeah the male lead is fun to look at (he was the show for me)....but overall - not sure where they will go or if i will continue to follow the series

I'll give it another week to see. But he stood out, for a number of reasons haha! I'm afraid they made him get used to too many things too quickly--like, everything around him! I thought they'd milk that a bit more for humor.
Recorded it on my DVR; I hope to watch it tonight. After reading the comments here, not sure what to expect now.
Just watched it and I'm hooked. Will definitely watch the series. Hoping for more flashbacks though.

I agree, we need to see a few more episodes to see if it can hook us, if your not be the third episode then you wont be at all.
I liked it, the premise is interesting, but I have no idea how they're going to fill a season of shows with this. We'll see how it goes (:

I liked it and I liked the creep factor, especially towards the end but, yeah, I am wondering how they will make a whole season worth watching let alone more than that. I will watch the next episode and see how it goes from there.

Should be interesting to see how this plays out. The coming attractions for the scheduled shows has promise. Hopefully they won't dilute the premise of Icabod Crane coming from the Revolutionary era by modernizing him too quickly. A romance between the two lead characters will also take away from the story. Interesting turn having Icabod go from being a teacher to a soldier/spy.
I also liked Ichabod's new story line. Janet, you talked about modernizing....I thought the Headless Horseman was a little too modernized at the end. Automatic weapons, really? That just didn't seem right to me; takes away that spooky vibe associated with that character. But I will give it some time as I do like the concept of the show.

I loved it! It's my SECOND favorite show. I don't think it was meant to be funny, more serious and suspenseful and horrific. You know what I'm saying.
I'm on the fence too. I think they have a great premise and I liked the actors, and cool camera work...yet, there were some rough spots and plot holes. But a lot of serials get better as the writers, actors & other involved get more comfortable. So I'll keep watching for a bit more.Another plus for me is that the heroine is a woman of color. :)

I agree Mina. Kudos to Fox for shaking it up a bit!

I am looking forward to tonight's episode, mostly because I am super curious what they do with it. I agree that more flashbacks from Ichabod's life is a must. I agree about series getting better with time, it is the same way with books (usually).
I have a confession to make, I didn't love Supernatural until the end of the first season, in fact by the fourth episode I was still debating on whether I even wanted to continue watching it (so very glad I did!) and now it is one of my all time favorite shows. By season two I was hooked and have been ever since.
I absolutely hated it! The graphics were so fake looking, and the overall look of the 'monsters' was so unreal!
Lol, Supernatural was kind of on the B-side at first and I was also so-so about it when it first came out. If it hadn't been for my son continuing to watch it, I probably would not have continued with it. Glad I did as it is one of my favorite shows!
I definitely hate supernatural, it's so stupid. But my favorite show is vampire diaries. BEST SHOW EVER!! :-) But true blood is good too.
Ouch... I love all 3 shows & hopefully will add Sleepy Hollow. I missed last weeks episode, but am hoping I didn't miss too much. Will be watching tonight :)

I like that too!!!

Yeah I wasn't immediately pulled into Supernatural either.
I know Danielle. I think he is a pretty cute Ichabod!
I saw it on TV, so I changed the station! One of the worst shows created! :-D I don't think it's going to last long before it gets cancelled, but it might make it to the end of the first season. I don't know where they plan on going with this.

Honestly, I'd rather follow the Horseman around. He's awesome. I have no interest in a procedural drama, but I'd totally be behind watching the Horseman stalking through town being awesome. :) I mean, can anyone think of a more comically mismatched pair of detectives than the Headless Horseman and Ichabod Crane? ...Of course, writing dialog for a headless character would be tough for the show every week. Personally, I went with a 1980s "Speak & Spell" toy for my Headless Horseman character to use. Undercuts the menace, but worth it for the comic appeal.I guess my main problem with the show is that it takes itself very seriously. It does the comedic elements of Ichabod's situation well (I liked his complaints about taxes on doughnuts), I just think that we don't really know the characters well enough for high drama, and I don't find their "monster of the week" to be particularly interesting so far. To me, they should be using more folk takes and legends (which is what the Headless Horseman is originally, dating back before even Arthurian legend.) Leave witches and demons to Supernatural, and Fairytales to Grimm. Go with public domain baddies and folk tale/urban legends, IMO.
Speak and Spell that's funny! Agree Elizabeth, too much Supernatural. No Headless Horseman tonight and that was disappointing. Isn't that the main story for Sleepy Hollow? The main reason I thought this show would be bad ass was with that character. I am trying to like this series.
My mom watched it and didn't think it was all that great. When she saw the commecials she instantly knew she would love it, but she was disappointed.
Leave witches and demons to the secret circle not supernatural. SO FREAKING STUPID!!! I mean supernatural is.
Sorry, it was a choice between Castle and Sleepy Hollow...so of course, recorded SH. Hope to watch it sometime soon.
My first take: Just watched the pilot on my dvr and I'm in love! I want so much more of this show. I hope each episode is as explosive as this one and they let a relationship build gradually between the leads. Didn't like the witch wife at all but as long as she stays out there in the ghost woods, fine. But every time Tom Mison(?)-Ichobod, looked at Abby and said "leftenant" in that smoky, accented voice, I got all shivery. And at the end when Abby looks at him with that smile and says, "I think I'm needed here."-- I was SOLD!Got episode on DVR now, will watch soon.
Mina wrote: "Sorry, it was a choice between Castle and Sleepy Hollow...so of course, recorded SH. Hope to watch it sometime soon."There is no way I could forgo Castle, I love Nathan Fillion! I had to record them both LOL!

2nd episode. I'm hooked--'pitiful', my sister told me.John Cho coming back was a little hard for me to take. Like no one MISSED a body from the morgue or the police car he took or what?
Best moment on the show for me? When Crane wakes from the nightmare, jumps from bed, and stands silhouetted at the open window. Ahhhh.
And he's STILL calling Abbie 'leftenant' and I'm still shivery, Danielle! lol.

Oh yes! NF is cute & witty... glad the answer was yes, but so mad it ended on another cliffhanger! :)
So finally watched the 2nd episode of Sleepy Hollow...totally didn't see John Cho coming back to life. Nice twist & that gives me hope.I also liked the way Abbie challenged Ichabod a bit about Katrina...hmm, gots me thinking!
Wish the bad witch/priestess coming to life had survived a bit longer...but liked the glimpse of the sister. So yes, still not giving up on the show. I will be recording again next week :)
