This poem emerged in early March. The coals of Buddha’s burning eyes,
seeing with the clearest view
all oceans turn to ice
and ice to fire, motion
leading between poles of difference,
fleeting and illusory
swings between the now and never
seeming both at once the same.
Abide with us in meditation.
So says her and he to no one,
silently, without recourse
to any given thing.
Assume the moving stance of clouds,
amorphous, drifting, present, formed
not merely of the earth, the sea,
the ripples of a rivers wash,
but also of the sips we take
from cups of tea, the silent breaths
which ground our restive consciousness
in all that’s fully whole and flowing.
