I am 'persuaded' that Rupert is the perfect choice :) Looking forward to my first official group read. Couldn't have chosen a better book..
I think we need a handsome man watching over us :P
I am exciting for you and your first group read :D It is a perfect book to fulfil the role of first group read!

Fortunately I have a long fantasy novel on my side table... over 600 pages... I think it'll keep me busy untill October.
Can't wait to see the new pic and start reading the book again! Looking forward to discussing it with everyone.
I have to confess... I couldn't resist, I couldn't wait till 1th October... So, since I didn't want to spoil the group read, instead of reading Persuasion, I read None but you and For you alone by Susan Kaye. Let me tell you: if you love Captain Wentworth this novel in two parts is an amazing retelling!
Now the the day has come, let me start reading Persuasion (again)!
Yay! Finally the day has come! Now I can re-read this very romantic story again :)And I need to read both Susan Kaye's books.
I have not started yet! I am so caught up elsewhere.A suggestion: any film adaptations soon after? For viewing and discussing? :).
Yes!! Film adaptation of either 1995 or 2007 I reckon as both films not series and the most popular versions.
Catch up when you can :) no worries!

You just beat me to my comment Louise ;) although I do have that version and need to watch it! (We would have been typing at the same time ;) )
The discussions will be on going so no worries - it is only the first!

I love the 2007 adaptation. It is not very accurate but Rupert Penry-Jones as Wentworth is amazing! The 1995 version is really detailed instead and I like that too. I suggest to watch both of them :)
I saw the 2007 adaptation and I love it! :) Haven't yet watched the 1995 one...I'll have to get to that after we read the book!
Stephanie wrote: "Rupert Penry Jones as Wentworth was amazing. My favorite version."I can easily understand why you chose that picture for your profile. It is wonderful :)
I was so inspired by re-reading this that I felt compelled to pontificate and just had a guest piece come out on "Persuasion in Persuasion" at a blog known as "My Jane Austen Book Club." You can find it here:http://thesecretunderstandingofthehea...
I will check that out! :)
I AM coming into the chatter discussions ASAP! I have been busy the past two days! I am so glad the discussions are in full flow!

I will join in starting tomorrow! I've been busy with school and stuff, so I haven't gotten around to reading the first few chapters yet. :)

That will be three down and three to go (of her main novels!)
I am glad of so many positive responses to Persuasion and I think it will be a lot of fun :)
I am going to set the folders up ASAP! I may not be able to quite as active as the last two group reads due to time constraints with school (final and therefore busy year!) but there will be wonderful conversations and debates regardless of my input! :P
I will change the group photo to accompany this group read - are we thinking a lovely photo of Rupert Penry-Jones to watch over our group read? :P
