blackplume | 3 comments Welcome back Sarah and nice to meet you Megan.
Maricar here from Manila Philippines. I love reading fantasy & contemporary novels but I do read from other genre too. I'm currently juggling five books right now and they are all from different genre.

Darklittle | 7 comments Hi everyone :)

I'm from Austria (not to confuse with Australia :D ), the small country next to Germany. I'm a student of English and history and I started book blogging half a year ago. A few weeks ago, a friend from university joined me on my blog. She also loves reading and wanted to try blogging.

I read a lot of paranormal romance in the last couple of years but became bored of it. So for a change, I now avoid series and love literary fiction. I like stories that are unique. I like it when a book is a bit on the crazy side. This year I read Jonathan Grimwood's "The Last Banquet" and loved all the weird recipes that of course only sound weird to our culinary culture. I also like "Hitchhiker's Guide to Galaxy" weird, although I have to admit that I haven't read the book yet (it's on my TBR) and only seen the movie.

I also like fantasy, historical fiction, romantic fiction and science fiction. But I like them best when they mix and when they have depth!

The book I liked best so far this year was Kate Atkinson's "Life After Life". I just loved how she created these vivid images. I've never read a story like this before. I simply became one with the book.

Right now, I'm reading Lisa Van Allen's "The Wishing Thread". I'm not quite sure what to think of it yet. I've had a difficult start with it.

Hi Maricar! That's great-we'll have lots of different genres to give away on here-and have to say, I'm very impressed that you can manage 5 books at once. Do you have a local bookstore that you like to shop in?

Hello, thanks for joining! We've got some great literary fiction coming up in the Fall that you might like and hopefully we can run some giveaways! You might also want to try The Impossible Lives of Greta Wells by Andrew Sean Greer. Do you have a local bookstore that you like to shop in?

The Impossible Lives of Greta Wells sounds great! Thanks for the recommendation.
We have two local bookstores in our (small) town. Unfortunately their selection of English-language books is very limited and they charge double the price that online stores charge. I only buy books in German in local bookstores.

L | 9 comments Hi Megan, it's lovely to meet you! :) And it's so awesome to hear from you again, Sarah! We miss you, girl! How are you both doing?

My name is Louisse and I am from the Philippines (I run The Soul Sisters with Geraldine) and I'm into New Adult books right now but my heart will always belong to Young Adult. I am currently reading Wetlands by Charlotte Roche (which is cray-zee!) What are y'all reading now? <3

message 8: by Megan (new)

Megan (megicorn) | 2 comments Hi guys! It's another Megan, and I'm new to the group here. I'm from Malaysia, and I used to really like science fiction and fantasy, but now I'm beginning to widen my perspective, so contemporary has become one of my favorite genres as well. Okay, basically anything YA works for me. :)

I'm currently reading THE DREAM THIEVES by Maggie Stiefvater and CONJURED by Beth Durst. The former's amazing!

message 9: by Nara (new)

Nara (greengp01) Hi! I'm Nara, and I'm a book blogger from Australia! I love reading all genres of YA, but I'm definitely a big fan of high fantasy and sci-fi because I adore good world building. I like reading Middle Grade and Adult books too, but generally dislike New Adult.

Right now, I'm reading Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta. I read this once before, but couldn't finish it for some reason, so I'm trying it again, seeing as though so many people rave about it :)

I'm Katherine, from Seattle WA and just finished a book this morning, so looking for the next great read. I love literary fiction, YA and fantasy books as well as nonfiction -- really I read just about everything. And, of course, looking forward to Allegiant's release.

Over here in Malaysia, we don't have many branches of bookstores, or indie ones, so among the four main branches of bookstores there are, my favorite is Kinokuniya, a branch from Japan. It's the most updated of all the bookstores, but also more expensive! >.<

Ooh! I can't wait to read those upcoming NAs! I'm a huge J. Lynn fan. <3 Dear Killer sounds creepy! Definitely my kind of read.

I absolutely LOVE shopping at Fully Booked and National Book Store! I always need to leave the bookstore with a new book in hand. LOL How about you? :)

message 16: by Shawna (last edited Oct 09, 2013 01:13PM) (new)

Shawna | 1 comments Hello everybody!

My name is Shawna and I am from Oregon, USA. I love to read fantasy, contemporary, dystopian, and paranormal books, mostly often in the YA category. I do occasionally read other kinds of books though, it depends on what the book is about. I also still love books that are geared towards middle school and elementary school children. Right now I am reading "The Fellowship of the Ring" by J.R.R Tolkien, and "An Abundance of Katherines" by John Green. The books I am most excited to read right now (that are coming out soon or just came out) are "The House of Hades" by Rick Riordan, "Revealed" (House of Night #11) by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast, and "Allegiant" by Veronica Roth.

I love reading, shopping in bookstore, and the smell of books. I hope to write one someday. I also love reading and reviewing books, and I hope to start a Youtube channel or a blog devoted to that, and everything else about books!

Hello Megan! It's nice to finally meet you! And Sarah, how have you been?

Hi everyone! It's been a long time since I've been in this group! My name is Von and I'm also from the Philippines! You may have known me as Mr. Book Wonder. I'm not much particular in what I read because I basically read anything; Young Adult, Middle Grade, New Adult, literary fiction, Christian fiction, etc. Currently I'm into contemporary stories that deal with anything from social issues to family issues. Looking forward to meeting more book people!

Michael (mtw1tter) | 20 comments Ah, new faces (moderators too)

Michael here in Singapore. I devour words and I almost enjoy reading fiction (crime/literary), non-fiction (biography, cookery books, craft) but I just can't stand Malcolm Gladwell's books.

Currently reading Poppet and lovin' it (as with all her other books)

Charlotte (cf25) | 4 comments Hi Everyone,

I'm Charlotte from the Philippines. I am a book blogger but I still prefer reading over blogging. Anyway, my taste in books is eclectic but right now, I gravitate towards YA books which belong to Fantasy (including all sub genres), Dystopia, Sci-Fi and Paranormal genres.

I am currently reading an adult Sci-Fi book entitled One's Aspect to the Sun. So far, it's good in terms of world building but I think it lacked the X-Factor to really draw me in.

Just in case you're interested, here's my book review blog: Thoughts and Pens Book Blog

I am so glad to have found this group because some of my all time favorite books were published by Harper Collins.

And that's it... Looking forward to book chatting with all of you, guys. :D
