I have often wondered how Kvothe actually kills the king. Early in the first book, the drunken patron inside the Waystone Inn mentions, "they say no mason can mend the stones" or something along those lines. This implies that Kvothe used some super magical force to completely obliterate the king, and the force so completely ruins the paving stones and they are forever left as a monument to the wrath the Kvothe can bring.

I've always imagined that Kvothe calls the name of something that brings ruin to the king. But I was always left wondering what name could he call that would both kill the king and damage the paving stones. Lightning maybe, stone would be far fetched and lame I think, maybe a massive downward force of wind? But finally at 12:43 AM as I try to sleep, I think that I've finally got a good contender for how it's done. First, we know that Kvothe is of a traveling troupe and ranges far and wide. Second, Kvothe does adventure further around Four Corners and become much more "worldly". Third, Pat finally told us the name of the world (Temerant) when he wrote his short story about Auri. See where I'm going with this? My guess is that maybe Kvothe calls the name of the world, Temerant, to kill the king. Wouldn't that be similar to stone you ask? No, to call on Temrant, Kvothe could hypothetically focus the entire world's gravitational force on a single focused point. This would have world wide side effects also. For a brief instant, everything on Temerant would float as if in space, but only for the briefest of instants, for that's all gravity needs to crush a man and the paving stones around him into oblivion.

This is definitely an interesting theory, and one to be contemplated. Knowing Pat, it's going to be something amazing like gravitational force that cements Kvothe's reputation as a Kingkiller.

What if it is the name of stone that is called, but Kvothe is not the one who actually calls it...

What if Fela kills the king, but Kvothe takes the fall for her so she isn't prosecuted.

that does seems like something kvothe would do, and since there is no real discernible proof yet, we can't rule that out.

I hate to sound like such a moron but were the stones destroyed by Kvothe attacking the king? I thought it was when he 'fought and angel?'
