Megan I have read little books where there is not mistakes in them. Say for instance instead of "our" it will say "out". I have also noticed sentences in books that dont make sense. Would you say this is the writers fault or the editors?

Lynn (dwell_ondreams) | 3 comments Proofreaders & editors, yeah. I've found so many books with terrible errors that could've been easily avoided. I'd be so embarrassed if I got something published, but it was full of errors. *shudders*

CaptKirk42 Classic Whovian (klandersen) | 455 comments Yep proofreaders/editors. Now-days the problem is compounded by everyone using computers and spellcheck for everything. A switched word like the "our"/"out" example isn't noticed because the word (both words) is (are) spelled correctly. Grammar checks need to be done as well. I think modern publishing doesn't spend the necessary time in editing that it should.

I read a lot of Doctor Who books and books published in the UK by Brit authors so I often read books with the UK spellings of words. Sometimes I do notice spelling errors, but more often I notice these word swap errors.
