Ella walked to the fiction section of the book shop looking for a new book to read.

Amabelle sat on the floor, reading a book. Technically she wasn't allowed, but she was probably going to buy the book anyway and she wanted the seee that it wasn't a waste of money.

"Emm... Hey. What you reading" Ella asked the girl sitting on the floor

Amabelle snapped the book closed. She squinted up at the girl standing over her. WaS IT A BOOKSHOP worker? Nah. "Um...its called I'm a Grenade. Its quite good. It's about this girl called Grace who has cancer. I'm gonna buy it."

"Cool sounds good and why buy it if you just read it?" Ella asked looking around.

"Its a thing I have. If I like it i'll try to read a bit to see if its actually good. But I normally buy it anyway because noone buys a books thats been read already unless theyre in a second hand bookshop."

"Okay, that's fair enough but no one would know that anyone had read it in the first place," Ella asked. "What's your name by the way?"

"Amabelle. What's yours? And you would know. There would creases in the spine and the cover would be slightly open."

"Ella, and not many people look at a book that closely before buying it most would realise after they got home," Ella told Amabelle.

((I would realise but most people probably wouldn't))

"Ah, but that is wrong. Have you noticed that the torn, scratched or bent books stay on the shelf? People notice when they buy books, especially as presents." Amabelle corrected.

"I've had loads of damaged books for presents, it's really annoying and most people think that they were damaged during the delivery, not by someone reading them," Ella reasoned.

"True. It feels cheating, somehow, reading part of a book and leaving it. On everyone. Yourself because you dont get to read the story, the buyer cause they get a mucked up book and the author because its thier story you just put back on the shelf."

"Well I suppose," Ella said unconvinced.

"I can tell that my argument's falling onto deaf ears." Amabelle grinned. "Lemme go pay for this. I'll be right back." She gets up off the floor and disappears between the shelves.

"Emm...yeah sure," Ella said as Amabelle disappeared to pay. As she looked along the shelf she spotted a book called Bombmaker.

Amabelle payed and headed back to where Ellie was reading a book.

Ella looked up just as Amabelle came back to where she was sitting.
"So... Do you want to go somewhere?" Ella asked wondering what to say.

"Yeah, that would be cool. Where do you want to go?" Amabelle says, ignorant to Ella's discomfort.
