Taylor (seffietay) Thread for discussion, chat away!

Taylor (seffietay) I finished this book yesterday and really enjoyed it. NoViolet's writing style is very unique; beautiful and flourishy without being over the top, she gets straight to the point. At times the words were punchy, almost poetic. She painted pictures of Zimbabwe and Darling with her friends eating guavas in a tree so wonderfully it was like I was in the tree too. The story wasn't so much a narrative with a start, middle, ending, but more a commentary on the vast differences between life in Zimbabwe and life in America. Presented in snippets stitched together chapter to chapter we see life for Darling unfold first in Zimbabwe, then later in Detroit, Michigan (destroyedmichigan). The book itself is a short read, but the issues discussed were so much more than that. This is one that will stick with me. Anyone else finish it?
