Hi everyone! So I just joined and thought this would be a great place to share my writing and read others' work. I'd like to share the link and excerpt from my most recent work, On Twilight's Wings.
Excerpt:
"I can't believe you." She finally met his eyes. "Don't you get it? You broke my heart, Gabriel! You broke it, and left me in the dust."
"I didn't want to hurt you... I never meant for him to use me to hurt you..." Gabriel's fingers curled into her hair softly.
She shook her head vehemently and yanked away from his touch. "You broke me. And you did it on purpose. You led me on and used me. All because of my armies and the power you thought I could give you."
"What armies? Power?" Gabriel frowned. "What are you talking about?"
"I'm royalty too, and you knew that even before coming to find me!" She hissed. "You know what? I'm done with this. I'm done with you, Gabriel. I let you into my heart. I trusted you after years of isolation and fear. You broke that trust, even though you knew it would shatter me." She jabbed a finger into his chest, and he felt his own heart breaking.
A tear fell of his cheek and dropped onto the stone floor. He bowed his head, unable to meet her eyes. The pain was too much. The hatred he saw in her eyes was too much to bear. The one woman he loved most in the world was lost to him.
