5 desert island books? Well right off the bat would have to be Watchmen. It is a wonderful graphic novel with a weird story (required me too read the book more than twice to truly understand everything). Next would be the books Mark of Athena and The Serpent's Shadow, by Rick Riordan. Both books are full of great storytelling, action, and ancient lore. Next would be The Chronicles of Darkness: Wolf Brother. It is an interesting tale of companionship. Last but not least my final book would be a riveting 800+ pages, but ALL BLANK. Why? Because I will fill them up, for the item I will bring would be a pencil case, which would contain mechanical pencils, pens, and pencil lead (yes I know it's technically cheating but it should count :P)
My top 5 desert island books would be The Host by Stephanie Meyer because its in a fiction setting, entertaining and long so you have a story to indulge in for a long time. And I'd bring the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld because I like series so that I can read an ongoing story about the same characters plus it's set in the future and its interesting to see how many possible situations for the future authors come up with. Its 4 books so that would complete my 5 books. Lastly I'd bring food because I'd need to eat to survive.
This is hard since I don't read books, but if I had to bring five books. I would bring any Steven King book because I love horror. I would bring the Outsiders because I always liked the story. The other three book, I would have to say to bring any other horror books, however, I know I won't read them because the last thing I would do in a island is to read. One thing I wouldn't be without is food because I need to eat so I can live.
I think that my top 5 desert island books would probably be The french connection, The hunger games, Room, To kill a Mockingbird, Its kind of a funny story because they are just great books that i would never get tired of. To kill a mocking bird is just a classic book that everyone i know that read it loved reading it. Also the French connection is a book that always kept me on my toes with the suspense. Lastly one thing that i would always want to be with me on the island probably be my house so i can live or die comfortably since the fridge would be stocked full.
I would take my iPad with 4G. I would probably download a few books before I leave and maybe download a few more when I get there. If I were stuck on a desert island, I wouldn't really read any books. I would probably commit suicide and now get even more depressed by reading. But if I have to choose I would probably say: Dog Sees God, Next to Normal, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, bare, and Brown Bear Brown Bear, what do you see?Almost all of these are Plays/Musicals so I don't think must people would count them as books, but I do.
What are your top five "desert island books" -- books that you'd take with you if you were going to be stranded on a desert island?
List them all (you're welcome to list more than five), then tell us why you chose at least two of them. What makes them so great, and why would you not want to be without them?
I would probably take my iPad with as I said, 4G
Well if I were stranded on an island I would bring books that would better help my chance of survival. I would also bring the hunger game trilogy because it keeps your mind going having to constantly think of whats going to happen next. Lastly I would also bring some food so I wont starve to death. And now that I think of it I may bring a book or two that has pictures of food so I can look at something pleasuring.
1. Farenheit 451, I have read it before this year and it is a classic.2. Harry Potter, a good series of books.
3. One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, a great book I read this summer, I would bring it.
4. Of Mice and Men, a great book I read a few years ago.
5. The Great Gatsby, what I'm reading now. I'm not finished but I guess I would finish it there. (I reposted this because I put it in the wrong thread, sorry.)
Well Id probably bring something that would better my chances for surviving and for recovering if i am somehow rescued. So therefore I would probably bring a dictionary so I wouldn't forget all my English while i was stranded. Id probably take a geography textbook so I might know where I am and possibly a way to get off. I would take "Wilderness Survival for Dummies" because I'm not Bear Grylls and I would probably just die. I would also take "Fishing for Dummies" because last time I fished I hooked my friend and he got cut up. Finally i would take "Gourmet Cooking for Dummies" because I would need to know how to cook fish I catch with "Fishing for Dummies"
The five books I would have if I was stuck on an island would be: The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
Perfume: The Story Of A Murderer
Looking For Alaska
A Clockwork Orange
Its Kind Of A Funny Story
I would bring these books for a mix of brutal fights and murder and feel good books.
Like Perfume by Patrick Suskind, its about an apprentice who goes out to find the perfect scent and kills women for theres to mix it with others. So that is more of a brutal tale while It's Kind Of A Funny Story is about a teenager named Craig who struggles with depression and other issues and decides to check into a hospital because he wants to kill himself, but it all ends up okay. It's Kind Of A Funny Story is more of a feel good realistic fiction. These books give me all different emotions for whatever mood I'm in.
I would bring my iPod with all my music. Books and music is the perfect combo of stuff I would want. Saying food and water would probably be smarter but whatever.
If I were stranded on a deserted island I would bring books like: Looking for alaska, Its kind of a funny story, The perks of being a wallflower, The summer I turned pretty, and Before I fall. I chose looking for alaska because I could read the book multiple times without getting bored. I would also read before I fall because every time I read it I learn something new. One thing I would bring with me is food and water.
My 5 desert island books would be Mark of Athena, spirit walker, graveyard book, last o,ympian, and the serpent's shadow. I would bring mark of Athena and last Olympian because they both about kids having the fate of the world on their shoulders but still need to deal with real world problems. Ine thing i would bring is a guide in how to build a boat
1.)Grigory Rasputin2.)Old Willis Place
3.)Tangerine
4.)Homeless Bird
5.) The Artemis Fowl
I would choose grigory Rasputin because it present a view on a real person. I would choose old willis place because it is a scary story. I would also bring matches.
1)Hunger Games 2)Harry Potter
3)Perks of being a Wildflower
4)A Clockwork Orange
5)Wilderness Living & Survival Skills
-I chose Hunger Games and Harry Potter because I've seen both of their movies and haven't taken the time to read the books.
-I wouldn't want to be on an island without a sort of companion(pet or friend)
1. The hunger games Catching fire- because i read book one and want to start reading book 2.2.Hunger games The Mockingjay- because , might as well finish the hunger games books.
3. Book on how to survive on a with no food or water , on an island.
4. How to fish.
i would like to have a fishing rod with me, that way i could fish and make food.

List them all (you're welcome to list more than five), then tell us why you chose at least two of them. What makes them so great, and why would you not want to be without them?
Lastly, what's one more thing you wouldn't want to be without on the island (you can say anything except a boat!).
