Damon Lindelof said this about a year ago in an interview."There are some questions that are very engaging and interesting, and then there are other questions that we have no interest whatsoever in answering. We call it the midi-chlorian debate, because at a certain point, explaining something mystical demystifies it.
To try and have a character come and say, "Here is what the numbers mean," actually makes every usage of the numbers up to that point less interesting.
You can actually watch Star Wars now, and when Obi-Wan talks about the Force to Luke for the first time, it loses its luster because the Force has been explained as, sort of, little biological agents that are in your blood stream.
So you go, "Oh, I liked Obi-Wan's version a lot better."
Which in the case of our show is, "The numbers are bad luck, they keep popping up in Hurley's life, they appear on the island." ... But if you're watching the show for a detailed explanation of what the numbers mean — and I'm not saying you won't see more of them —then you will be disappointed by the end of season six."
did any one notice that 815 is embedded in the sequence of the numbers?
um........ yeah i did just notice, i guess my mind is on another planet or universe
All of the numbers pop up everywhere in this show. The new plane that crashes, Ajira air, contains the numbers as well......
on the crate in which John was buried, and on that license plate of the truck and in fringe as well 815 appeared on the graffitti wall
Here's my questions:Is there any part of the original John Locke that's in the reincarnated/reanimated/cloned new John Locke?
Because, how did the new John Locke know to go back and tell Richard Alpert to tell John Locke 1 to go get the others to come back to the island and that he'd have to die?
If it's not the same person in John's body, he wouldn't have known to go to that exact spot and time, right?
I think that might be a good guess. The real Locke is still somewhat intact - memory wise - I think its just the spirit of the Man in black that is animating the body. If that makes sense!
So, it's kind of like Dumbledore having memories that he can put in his own mind...otherwise we'll (they'll, i guess) get into a long discussion of where does the soul live? if it's the mind, then we'd have two souls living in John's new body.
Or maybe Lori, you're differentiating between the spirit and soul - which is fine by me. I'm a dodecichotomist with wholistic tendencies.
Question 11Why did the time jumps stopped? Is it because Locke fixed the Wheel's position on the wall OR
because Charlotte died? Did Ben dislodge the Wheel on purpose?
FLASHBACK:
In season 3 finale, Ben shot Locke but after Locke killed Naomi, Locke was suddenly able trekking through the jungle.
Also in season 1 when Booned died, a slightly paralyzed Locke later on could walk again.
Anyone sees a pattern here?
Question 17
Fake Locke (Flocke) is definitely Jacob's Enemy. And I also assume the Enemy is the one who's been using Jacob's cabin and give orders to Benjamin.
One of the orders was to bring Locke to him (in season 2 Ben told John he was on his way to the hatch to get him ).
Also I keep thinking about when Rikardus went to see 5 yr old Locke and gave him the test...When Locke chose knife, he was ticked. Maybe it meant Locke was not the chosen leader OR that he would bring danger to everyone and the Island?
@Lori
When Flocke was goading Ben to kill Jacob, outside, on the beach, Ilana and co. showed Locke's corpse to Rikardus.
So Locke's body wasn't possessed or used like a puppet. The Enemy must have shapeshifted into him. Just the sort of thing The Monster likes to do . . . . . (cue Smokey's howl)
"When Flocke was goading Ben to kill Jacob, outside, on the beach, Ilana and co. showed Locke's corpse to Rikardus.

Too true. You got me there. But then how does he have Lockes personality and memories, unless he's been around Locke for a very very long time....??

Could bad guys spirit have been the smoke monster?Because it saw in both Locke and Ben... It was the one who told Ben to follow Locke no matter what...
It would then have Locke's memories and know where to go and when, etc...
The only other people I remember it attacking were the pilot and Mr. Echo. And maybe it knew Mr. Echo couldn't fulfill it's task.
@Lori and Phil:1. Before Smokey killed Eko, it shapeshifted and became Yemi, Eko's brother.
Also, I think the Christian Shephard on the Island is in fact the Monster. The real Christian is dead and dead is dead, as told to us by Benjamin and Rikardus.
2. In "Dead is Dead" when Smokey judged Ben, it saw various events in Ben's life. That's one of its superpowers, I reckon.
(OK, we can't trust Ben. But we can trust Richard.....right?)
I don't know if we can trust him or not, but I imagine we can.I think at this point we can even trust Ben.
Is Smokey the spirit of the black man from the beginning? The Anti-Jake?
Interesting points to all.....
I really hate thinking of Smokey as something that will actually shape shift into someone long term (like Christian or Locke).... tho I know he was the other things (Yemi, Alex, Kates Horse, ect.)

My theory since the finale has been that the smoke monster is somehow in cahoots with the guy dressed in black that was sitting on the island with Jacob at the beginning of the episode. That guy was pretty intent on killing Jacob. And I think that particular part was in the beginning...like in the beginning of everything - before anyone ever came to the island. I also think that the guy in black is somehow connected to the fake John Locke because he (fake John) killed Jacob - just like the guy in black said he wanted to do.
"the guy in black is somehow connected to the fake John Locke because he (fake John) killed Jacob."
Amanda, that is one point that we all agree upon. We are really just theorizing how the heck he managed to DO that!
Remember, in the beginning of the episode, Jacob told him the only way to kill him is to find a loophole. At the end of the episode, when Locke walked into Jacobs home, Jacob said "I see you found your loophole".

Yeah, I definitely remember that. I'm thankful for DVR because I watched that opening sequence like 10 times because I was trying SO hard to figure out what in the world was going on and what they were talking about! :-) But the more I think about this show, I really think there are some spiritual undertones. As far as the guy in black...I think (so far) I agree with those who are theorizing that the smoke monster shape-shifted itself to become the new John Locke. I just haven't thought through what other things that would imply if that were true...
I love Lost for the head scratching and guessing it gives us! And anything anyone comes up with can actually be the real deal... you just never know... it's really amazing!

Also, inside the Swan Station, the minutes counting down to push the button are 108. After 108 days, Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Sun, and Aaron are rescued. Coincidence? I think not.

True. What is the quote Locke says?
"Don't mistake fate for coincidence"?
Or is it,
"Don't mistake coincidece for fate"?

My favorite character would have to be Charlie, (so mad that he died!) and Hurley and, of course, Sawyer. I like Jack too.
Sayid is awesome! What did you think of him and Shannon together for a while?
i would have to say i am with michael emerson (ben), his role and his acting is just brilliant
Agreed! He does play the role of Ben wonderfully!
Here's another question: Why did the smoke monster kill the pilot? I mean, if the thing is judging them, what was the deal with the pilot's past? Also, what keeps it from going onto the beach?
Answer THOSE the DarLton. If you can.
I have to agree in a sense here.
I think they had no real idea what they wanted Smokey to be when they first wrote the show. I really think it kind of morphed as it went along that first season. Dont forget, in the original writing of the pilot episode, Jack was supposed to be the one who was killed, not the airplaine pilot.
Once the second season hit, it got so much more structured. You can go back and see things in each episode that ties into the others... Its amazing how fleshed out it all became.

That's what I thought the answer might be... so you're saying that that's a loose end that might just not get tied up?
oh man...still so long until it comes back...i cant wait! i love hearing so many different awesome theories-i think i love that best about this show...it makes you think, and talk about what you just "witnessed"
I find it facinating that we all watch the same show and then have different, diverse, interesting theories based on what we've seen.........
OK... next question. So one of the theories put out there was that smokey assumed the forms of the dead people - a la Ben's daughter - to get them to do whatever...
did smokey take on there forms off the island as well? (such as charlie appearing to Hurley?)
That's an interesting theory...But how would Smokey get off the island? One question just raises another in LOST.
I hope in the end it's not all some illusion, or Jack wakes up from a dream, and ended up dreaming it all. That would be dumb. I hate it when that happens! >:(

I want to know what you think about Jacob appearing to all of the Lost at some point in their lifes off the island?
All's I know is that they better explain it to us. If this show ends and leaves smokey up in the air, unexplained and all that, I will cry!

Eloise said it always moved. Does it mean it exists in another dimension?
