Finley Mac | 66 comments being a girl is very overrated cause it ain't just Starbucks and yoga pants. (i don't own any yoga pants)
it also involves going home with your keys between your fingers.
It's also worrying about what you'll do if you get raped because rape culture prevents you from properly defending yourself.
It's not wanting to take a different train or bus from usual because you don't know that line, that area, those people
It's not being able to do anything outside the norm (I've got an undercut, and before that I had a pixie cut. I've always been asked if I'm trans* or gay. I am also so, so worried that someone will try to correctively rape me for being asexual.)
(I'm also very er "tomboyish" I guess, so there's that. I haven't worn makeup or painted my nails, but I will someday. Someday, I'll also be a dude. It all depends i guess?? do not ask me about this donoth ask tme)
repeat after me: BEING A GIRL CAN BE REALLY REALLY SHITTY

Abi (abilyssa) being a girl sucks. PMSing, periods, moodswings(PMS), bras, always having to be perfect, always worrying about whether you look pretty enough, gossip, insecurity, self-consciousness, crushes, cliques, popularity, drama, getting pitied, being underestimated

I think more like a boy, than I do a girl.

But the good things? Getting anything you want, boys at school have to respect you, BOYS, "innocence", being yourself, the capability to be a total bada**, being able to boss boys around, laughing with your friends, going on shopping sprees just 'cuz you're bored, being able to talk sh*t and no one will judge you, the ability to show weakness and cry. Caring for others with sympathy and not looking weak for it.

But being a boy? Always having friends there for you, who got your back no matter what, GIRLS, leadership, no emotions to slow you down, go with the flow, fearlessness.

Bad things about being a boy? You have to look out for yourself, independence, always have to at least LOOK tough, staying strong no matter the situation, having to be a hero for someone special, going out of your way to do what you think is right, giving in to girls (which I know must be hard).

So all in all, be who you are and love it cuz no matter who you are, everyone out there has their downs too.

Finley Mac | 66 comments You most definitely have to look out for yourself if you are a girl.
I am scared for my life walking homes most days. I take one of the most notorious train lines in Chicago (known for being dangerous, but mainly on the south side; I am a far north-sider). I notice if someone stares at me for too long. I've walked home with keys between my fingers and a drawing compass up my sleeve. I dislike walking in the dark because I never, ever know who's there.
also i feel like there are a shitton of cis-based expectations placed on me. I don't wear makeup, I'm asexual, I wear t-shirts and jeans, I have super short hair and it scares me, really, that when I say I'm asexual someone will try to "fuck me straight"

I mean like there are disadvantages to being girls. I'm not denying that. But there will always be a disadvantage to every sex, everything oveerall. Everything that has a positive has it's negatives.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

I say be happy with whatever th worls has given you. Live life to the fullest.
