Avril heard a thunk on the roof. Judging my the warm tingle on the back of her neck, it was trouble. She rolled her shoulders and let her wings unfold. She knew they were there by the shadow they cast, she had gotten so used to them, she rarely even felt them anymore. She stepped outside, closed the door, and soared up, into the night.
