I'm currently between books. What are you all reading?

Okay. I guess we need a conversation starter. I'm currently re-reading (slowly!) Will Our Generation Speak?. Cannot recommend this book strongly enough. Love it. Now to apply everything inside it more frequently...

Kirsten (kiriliz) | 1 comments I'm currently in the middle of The Swiss Family Robinson. After seeing both the Disney film and the 1998 TV series, I cannot even begin to describe how much I love this story, although it's *very* safe to say that the book is better.

I've actually never read that one. We might have done it as a family read aloud when I was little, but I don't really remember anything. I do remember little bits of the Disney film and an animated version.

Karis (kariselizabeth) I am reading "The Bridge to Literacy" by John Corcoran. It's a fantastic book, I'm reading very slowly because I keep stopping to write notes in my notebook. I got it from the library so I can't highlight it but I wish I could! It's about helping and encouraging those who can't read, adult and child, to read. I'm reading it because I want to give a presentation about encouraging better reading habits in everyone, literate and non-literate alike. We could all use a little encouragement.

Huh. Sounds interesting, Karis. Where do you want to give your presentation?

message 7: by Karis (new)

Karis (kariselizabeth) I actually don't know. Haha! I just started to do the reading on the topic, I know when I'm giving the presentation (next January), but not where. My college alternates giving the presentations between 3 colleges. One is Stanford, another is Berkeley. They want to give undergraduate students a shot at giving presentations in front of Ivy League professors. I'm excited!

Star Shining Forever (starshining4ever) I'm uh...reading textbooks for college :-| BUT in my spare time, I'm reading CS Lewis' "The Great Divorce" and looking to finish his "Space Trilogy."

@Karis: That's neat that you'll be able to present to Ivy League professors. If you end up anywhere in the vicinity of Yale, let me know. I live relatively nearby.

@Star Shining: The textbooks. Good ol' exciting textbooks. :P What classes are you taking at present?

Well, at least it sounds like you're enjoying the classes well enough. And last semester is grueling and exciting at the same time, isn't it! (Though, if you're doing two classes, it might not be as grueling as my 4 classes were. :P) When do you finish the classes?

Star Shining Forever (starshining4ever) Yep, grueling & exciting! This is my 3rd semester of taking 2 classes simultaneously, so I'm used to it, but I've been working through all of it, so that complicates things :-/ I finish classes in March and am shooting for June graduation :-)

Ah, yes, working would be complicated. And I did a June graduation too! How cool. :)
