Dee i was worried about that part too, if Jessica would not have gone through the abortion , Caleb might have married her 10 years ago itself . even though he didn't feel the strong connection that he has with Olivia , he still did have some feelings for her . But later he was just dating her , not in love with her . that i am sure of . but the fact that had the abortion not happened , things would have been way different still bothers me . in the future when he again meets Jessica , the abortion issue is probably not spoken of because everyone has moved on and Caleb has had to go through far more worse things with Olivia .
p.s. i hate that part too .

Dee I feel that is wrong on the author's part . Because this is a romance , even if a weird and tangled one. Caleb should have only one suitable lover . its like the author is giving options . and Jessica is more stable and secure than Olivia . so even though in the future , caleb is not in love with Jess , if the pregnancy debacle had not taken place , he would have spent more time with her and may have eventually fallen in love with her and not Olivia and that is totally disturbing .
but if we see from another perspective , where the whole pregnancy and abortion thing didnt happen , and Caleb was still with Jess . he could have eventually started seeing more of Olivia and then fallen in love with her .

*P I felt the same way. We get this feeling like Olivia and Caleb are supposed to be together but based on what was said, it does seem like he would have been perfectly happy with Jessica if the pregnancy/abortion issue never happened. So yes it irked me, but really maybe it was to make the story more realistic. We can all come across people we may be ok ending up with (Jessica) even if they are not the ultimate one for us. By bringing Jessica back in this final story (which I also hated) we were able to see that he really has that ultimate connection with Olivia.

i agree the ultimate connection that he has is with Olivia , but part of me wonders that is Jessica and Caleb hadn't broken up , Olivia never would have even come in the picture .

Michele Rocha Yes, i agree. But for me this part of the book shows Olivia bad side. I think she wanted to show us that olivia was not an angel and the same as Caleb,
who was saying that she was a lesbian. He didnt love jessica, because i think he would still stay with olivia even if she did one; he would not break up (my pov)I think he wouldnt stay together with Jessica because she didnt want children, we all know he is a family guy, so they have different plans in the future and the same way as he would not stick with her for too long, because she was very normal and simple, i think he would get boried with her. Thats why i think he loves olivia, she is complicated, some times even crazy and very particular girl, she is not easy to find if u compare with Jessica. I love this book so much! Things are not perfect but they are meant to be together! I think Jessica would do an abortation as well, sooner or later, without olivia! She told she never want to be a mother! And i think caleb has a fisical attraction with Jessica, she was hot, we saw that they even made sex in the school, it was not love, was sex. Olivia no, he never had sex with her and still love her ,wanted to marry her.

Olivia I think it's the same thing with Olivia and Noah. Olivia chose Noah over Caleb, and she only divorced Noah because he didn't want to have kids. So if Noah did want to have kids, she'd probably stay married to him and wouldn't end up with Caleb.
As it is, I felt that Olivia didn't leave Noah for Caleb, and she only went to Caleb because she divorced Noah.
I'm more ok with what you guys talked about the Caleb/Jessica thing, but I'm so not ok with what I said about the Olivia/Noah thing.

Dee wow...i never really looked at the Olivia side of things ...and well I'm not fine with both .
But Noah did agree to having kids , she miscarried and then just couldn't stay in the relationship knowing how much the miscarriage destroyed her but didn't have that much of an impact on Noah .
Well guess both Olivia and Caleb are the same and are with each other because each of their partners didn't follow their views along with the fact that they didn't develop that connection with others as they did with each other

Olivia With what I said about the Olivia/Noah thing, it really ruined the whole story's ending for me, I just thought the author could have come up with something more amazing for Olivia and Caleb to get back together, something that would WOW the readers, something that would make an epic ending to an amazing series... but maybe that's just me. Does anyone else feel the same?

I agree ...no wow factor , I didn't see it then but I do now

Virginia What bothered me most about the ending was that Olivia divorced Noah and never contacted Caleb. So, if Caleb's parents car accident handn't happened, does that mean Olivia never would have looked for him?

He lived a continent away . Plus she cannot just call him whenever she finds it convenient to . She was the one to turn him down , so if she would have called ,it would just have seemed as if she was calling him just because Noah was out of the picture .

I know, I'm ok with the way things ended. It all felt very realistic, but it still bothers me that if the accident hadn't occured then Olivia and Caleb would still be living their separte lives, their epic love for each other going to waste.

yeah ...same here . We can only hope there would have been some other reason if not this

If Caleb had told Olivia that he was faking his amnesia or if Olivia had had the courage to stay and face the consequences of Caleb knowing what happened between them , they could have been together seven years earlier . What a waste :(

A Yeah I was more bothered with Jessica than Leah. I think it's cos Jessica was portrayed as the perfect barbie girl, the perfect match for Caleb- her family's also rich, she's good looking (she even has long legs and Caleb said he was a leg guy), smart (I hated that in the first book during their law course, she beat Olivia! But imo this made the book more realistic, some people do seem to have it all), and most importantly she was sweet. I think this is what pisses me off the most because that meant that Caleb was with her because he wanted to, not due to manipulation on her part, whereas Leah had to guilt him into staying.

But to me, Caleb and Jessica would never have lasted, I think in one of the interviews, Tarryn said Caleb gets bored easily, and so with Jessica , I think she's nice and all but there didn't seem to be much substance to her, she's just very, I don't now, bland? Plus she didn't want children, surely this would have been a big issue for them if they were together in the future.

And so, even though Jessica seemed like the perfect one for Caleb, and even he believed it for a while because things with her were so much easier. The connection, love he had for Olivia was so strong that it somehow always prevailed.

It's from the pressed penny forum; Tarryn also said that Olivia has never bored Caleb, he loves her flaws and how she's unpredictable.

Ifrah I think at some point in the book Olivia thinks the same thing, that if the abortion had not happened Caleb would likely still be with Jessica because what Caleb always wanted was a family.

Dreamer Life is all about chances and opportunities. Had Olivia not intercepted, Caleb and Jess may have ended up together. Different decisions create different paths. Olivia became the opportunist and secured her path with Caleb. It's just one of those things, and I find that it's very realistic and makes you wonder just how many opportunities/choices pass you by everyday!

Thanks Erin!

I just read it. Loved it! That was so clever of Tarryn. Olivia and Caleb were so sweet; really missed Olivia's wit, she's such a badass, definitely one of my all time favourite characters. Yep, questions from this thread were somewhat answered.

Octavia Jessica was a issue. But remember Caleb told Olivia that Jessica wanted the abortion. Jessica didn't want kids. Caleb made it sound like that was a deal breaker. I think had the abortion issue not come up that once he knew she didn't want kids they would have been over. Lets remember guys in college fall in love everyday. Jessica was not going to end up with Caleb.
