Claudia Harbaugh (claudiaharbaugh) | 11 comments There has been a lot of chatter about recommendations and I thought this might be a good place for any authors of recent Traditional Regencies to post links to their books. Since most of us authors are also avid readers, it would help in the never ending quest for new material to read. Any objections?

Claudia Harbaugh (claudiaharbaugh) | 11 comments Great, I'll kick it off and hope that others will join in! Mine is called Her Grace in Disgrace and is a traditional Regency that takes place in 1817. Her Grace in Disgrace by Claudia Harbaugh

Lesley-Anne McLeod (lesley-annemcleod) | 11 comments Thank you for the opportunity to post about our books! I have nine Regency romances available in ebook, five novella length and a book of short stories in print and ebook. Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer are my muses; all my books have a strong traditional feel. Check out my work at www.lesleyannemcleod.com, http://www.uncialpress.com/Lesley-Ann... and Amazon Kindle!

Danielle Thorne (daniellethorne) | 14 comments I love Jane Austen-inspired and sweet romance Regencies! It's the genre I read and write. I happen to be an admirer of Lesley-Anne McLeod who posted above, too.

You can find my Regency romance, Josette, here at Goodreads, at Amazon.com, and other online bookstores. Find out more about Josette and her problems with family expectations and moody sea captains at www.daniellethorne.com.

Claudia Harbaugh (claudiaharbaugh) | 11 comments Sounds good! I'll have to check it out when my TBR pile goes down a bit! I'm anxious to try out Lesley-Anne's as well. Either of you having a sale any time soon? ; P

message 7: by Danielle (new)

Danielle Thorne (daniellethorne) | 14 comments I'll post when Josette gets marked down. Thanks for reminding me! Have fun with your TBR list--mine is miles long.

Susana Ellis (susanaellisauthor) | 5 comments A Twelfth Night Tale is a sweet Regency Christmas story about a young man returned from the Peninsula with a permanent injury and the girl next door who has always loved him but is about to become betrothed to a wealthy viscount out of duty to help her younger sisters.

message 12: by Susana (new)

Susana Ellis (susanaellisauthor) | 5 comments Also, my sweet Regency story Treasuring Theresa is temporarily on sale! It's about a London lord and a country lady who appear to have nothing in common. Hmm!

message 13: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Cole | 4 comments I wanted to let people know about my new sweet holiday Regency, A Voice at Midnight (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...), in which a disgraced soldier meets a young lady who resists all efforts to marry her off...and oh, yes, there's a ghost at work too! It's a novella on sale for 99 cents.

Kadee McDonald | 7 comments I'd like to mention the Aurora Regency imprint of e-books from Musa Publishing. At present, the line has 49 titles and all of them are traditional Regencies. I have one novel there, Marisa's Choice, and a novella, An Arranged Valentine, which was a Top Pick from the historical reviewer at All Romance Cafe this past May.

And saving the best for last...all titles will be 50% off this Monday, Dec 2nd (Cyber Monday) in the Musa bookstore only. Here's the link...and we'd love it if you came over to browse in advance of Monday's sale:

Donna Hatch (goodreadscomdonnahatch) | 7 comments My 10th title just came out! It's a clean Regency romance called A PERFECT SECRET, book 3 of the Rogue Hearts Series. Like all the books in the series, it's written to be a stand-alone book, so you don't have to read the first two first.

Blurb:
Desperate to protect her father from trial and death, Genevieve breaks off her engagement with Christian Amesbury and marries a blackmailer. After a year of marriage, she flees her husband's violent domination only to have fate bring her back to Christian. Just when she thinks she's started a new life of safety and solitude, her husband tracks her down, stalks her, and threatens everyone she loves.

Still brokenhearted over Genevieve's betrayal a year ago, Christian can't believe she's come back into his life--and worse, that she's done it on the anniversary of his brother's death, a death that haunts him. Though tempted to throw her back into the river where he found her, he can't leave her at the mercy of the terrifying man she married.

When her husband torments Genevieve and puts the Amesbury family in danger, Christian will do anything to protect those he loves...anything except give Genevieve another chance to break his heart.

Goodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

It's on Smashwords here: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...
and on Amazon here:
http://www.amazon.com/A-Perfect-Secre...
and on Barnes & Noble here:
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/a-per...

It should be out very soon in paperback.

Kadee, do you know if Musa has any plans to bring out any of their Regencies in print, or will they remain strictly digital?

I can't speak to my publisher's future plans, Donna, but right now all Musa authors can place orders every quarter for print copies of their novel-length titles for promotional purposes, such as giveaways, book signings and any other one-to-one contact with readers. I did that for "Marisa's Choice" and gave away two signed copies here on Goodreads a few months ago. Hope that helps?

D.G. Rampton (goodreadscomdg_rampton) | 8 comments Great idea for a thread Claudia! Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer inspire my own writing...I was determined to capture some of their language and tone to give readers an authentic period feel. I hope you all feel I've succeeded with my first novel ARTEMISIA. Authors are the toughest critics! We know our own genre so well :)

Kadee McDonald | 7 comments I'd like to offer my own "giveaway" for my traditional sweet Regency romance, "Marisa's Choice," here in this thread.

I have 6 copies to give away in exchange for the promise of an honest review on Amazon. I can provide a print book to readers here in the United States or an e-book to anyone who'd rather have a digital version instead for Kindle, Nook or iPad.

Please let me know if this would be suitable for this thread in this group and I'll post details and my contact info at that time for anyone who might be interested.

Thanks so much! ~ Kadee

It is after all the authors corner and you have already posted your intent.

So yes its allowed

message 21: by Kadee (new)

Kadee McDonald | 7 comments Thanks, Kagama. I don't think that Goodreads is the right place for an author to practice "shameless self-promotion" (if there even is a "right place" to do that.) Since giveaways are popular here, however, I hoped this would be okay, but I did want to ask first before posting further.

My contact info is:

KadeeMcDonald @ aol.com (no spaces, of course)

Again, here are the details:

I'd like to offer my own "giveaway" for my traditional sweet Regency romance, "Marisa's Choice."

I have 6 copies to give away in exchange for the promise of an HONEST review on Amazon.com. That's all...honest. It doesn't need to be 5-star (although I hope it will.) But I learn something from every review.

I can provide a print book to readers in the United States or an e-book to anyone who can post on Amazon.com and who'd rather have a digital version instead for Kindle, Nook or iPad. Please e-mail me directly so we're not cluttering up this thread, and let me know which version of the digital book you'd like to have...PDF, ePub or Mobi.

Thanks again. ~ Kadee

I appreciate you asking for permission.I might have come across as a bit short in my answer wich. was not at all intentional.

As you say a lot of authors shamelessly self promote, sometimes it not being any more than spam. But if your genre is traditional regency then this is your forum.

Goodreads is a good way to reach out to readers but many authors go about it all wrong I think.

A give away is a good way to start...and if people like your writing I am sure more and more people will leave reviews:)

or even if they dont like it will bring attention. I like how you say you want to learn from reviews. Good attitude!

PS! I forgot to say you can post your giveaway in our Contest section too.

message 23: by Kadee (last edited Feb 09, 2014 07:00PM) (new)

Kadee McDonald | 7 comments I hadn't thought about the Contest section! Thanks for the suggestion, Kagama. I'll head over there straightaway.

I really do learn from reviews. And if I read six reviews along the lines of "okay but not great," then I'd better reconsider whether I'm truly meant to write Regencies at all, or if my time is better spent elsewhere.

I've loved Regencies for decades and, although I do read other genres for variety, I can't think of anything I'd rather read than a Regency. But if I can't carry off writing one that readers like me enjoy, what's the point? :)

Christina | 1 comments Hi! I'm new at this site. I find it really interesting because I am often in search of books written in the beautiful Regency style.
I have recently published a novel with a combination of the Regency romance style and art painting of the period. ONe of the characters is a young JMW Turnerk. The whole story takes place one summer he spends at Margate, Kent. The book's title is 'My summer in Margate:1801', available in amazon.

Judith | 9 comments Wendy, I have most of your mother's books in print and have just obtained the few I missed onto my Kindle. There are two that I have the titles of, but cannot find; I wonder whether these are British titles and that the American edition had different titles: Regency Wager; Regency Galatea. If anyone can clarify these, I would be grateful.

Judith | 9 comments In several of Elizabeth Mansfield's books a character makes a comment about Sybil Sturtevant, such as she has now jilted 4 men (the number keeps going up). In which book, if any, does she finally meet her match?

Michele | 1 comments Hello! I am willing to give away a copy of my novel, debuting next month, for an honest review. Please reply here if you are interested. I can email it to you in PDF form right now. It will go live on Amazon and B&N next month. Thank you!

Tempting Treasures

After the demise of her grandfather, nineteen year old Lady Elena St John has spent the last three years running an impoverished barony. Orphaned and alone, she searches for a hidden family treasure while plagued by the ghost of Lady Katherine, the one who created the intricate clues, though the apparition refuses to relinquish any answers.

Retired spy, James Stewart, Earl of Richmond, seeks escape from the clutches of his matchmaking family. Intent on finding purpose in his new role, he dives headfirst into the running of the earldom ending up at a forgotten inherited barony. Obsessed with discovering the secret of the young lady in residence, he is convinced the recent series of accidents are anything but.

Frustration mounts as Elena, desperate to hide her family’s smuggling operation, deflects James’ curiosity with the legend of the hidden treasure. Can they put personal grievances aside and work together to unravel the clues while longing for a more tangible treasure?

message 35: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Carter | 1 comments Hello Regency romance aficionados!
Just wanted to let you know about the book I have recently published which was inspired by my love of Georgette Heyer's Regency romances.
I have been delighted to receive some fantastic reviews, for example this from Regency Reader website:
I highly recommend this for lovers of the traditional Regency needing something a bit different but with all the familiarity of the genre. I think Rachel Carter is an upcoming talent, and worthy of taking note.

Lucretia is available on kindle, in paperback and is also on kindle unlimited. Here's the blurb to whet your appetite. I hope some of you read and enjoy it.

Lucretia:
Kidnappings, elopements, duels, dastardly plots. Making your debut has never been so hazardous.

Hidden away from polite society, Lucretia Lanyon spent her time daydreaming of dandies, extravagant pantaloons and intricate neckties. Now an heiress and suddenly the toast of Society, she finds her ideal man in Viscount Prendergast, the one bachelor in London who doesn’t seem interested in marrying her. Lucretia must navigate around nefarious impostors, jealous mistresses, dastardly fortune hunters, and the match-making schemes of her aunt, while she tries to attract the notice of her beau.

Christopher Prendergast, an aspiring dandy, was busy perfecting the art of tying his cravat, learning how to use his quizzing glass as a social weapon, and secretly excelling at Jackson’s boxing saloon. To everyone’s surprise, Christopher finds himself in love for the first time in his life. He must now learn how to secure a lady’s affections. He stumbles through a wooing campaign that includes bizarre gifts, terrible poetry, daring rescues and, finally, honesty.

Lucretia is a traditional regency romance brimming with period detail, unlikely heroes, delicious villains, and the flourishing of an unlikely love.
