Another one I can think of is Help Is On The Way by Rise Against. Kind of like in a zombie apocalypse when all the people expect help from the government but then they don't get it!

I love that version of Mad World! It's such a beautiful and sad song.
Nine Inch Nails has an entire album that is fitting for a dystopian world: Year Zero. It's amazing!
My Top Two Favorites:1.) We Can Make the World Stop by: Glitch Mob
2.) Radioactive by: Imagine Dragons
The first time I ever heard Radioactive was when it was incorporated into the Host movie trailer, so every time I hear the song I think of the movie and the book version.
For "Shatter Me", I thought of:"Paradise" by Coldplay
"Dark Side" by Kelly Clarkson
"A Message" by Coldplay
and "Castle of Glass" by Linkin Park
Of course, I've got a separate list for The Hunger Games. Here it is:"Born for This" by Paramore -It reminds me of the tributes, especially the Careers.
"Set Apart This Dream" by Flyleaf- This is definitely a song for Rue <3
"In My Remains" by Linkin Park- A song for all the dead tributes.
"My Father's Father" by The Civil Wars- It brings to mind how bittersweet it was for Katniss & Peeta to return home.
"Fences" by Paramore- Makes me think of how Katniss had to pretend to love Peeta & fake it for the cameras.
"Robot Boy" by Linkin Park- This says everything about how Haymitch feels.
"Let The Flames Begin" by Paramore- This should be the theme song for CATCHING FIRE. No question.
"Shot In The Dark" by Within Temptation- Reminds me of the aftermath of CATCHING FIRE, how Katniss felt in District 13.
"Up In Flames" by Coldplay- A song for the Katniss/Peeta/Gale love triangle.
"Burn It Down" by Linkin Park- Perfect for the rebellion.
"After the Storm" by Mumford and Sons- I think of this when the rebellion's over and Katniss has to pick up the pieces. Love this song.

I love your playlist Erica! Not sure how old you are, but those are MY generations songs. (I'm 58) I would add to your list the ones I mentioned above - "Don't Fear The Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult, and "Sympathy For The Devil" by the Rolling Stones. All those together would make my perfect dystopian playlist!

Erica wrote: "I think an argument could also be made for the entire libretto of 'Les Miserables'." Hey, I just noticed this post. Whoops. But you're totally right. That world is definitely dystopian. I LOVE Les Mis!

That NIN album is great... great lyrics as well
I think the bands Thursday and Dredg also have great dystopian tunes which capture the angst of our current society as it devolves...

Tears for Fears version of Mad World is so perfectly dystopian.

Civil Twilight - Come As You Are cover
