Analysis of zombie fiction discussion

In my work I deal a lot with trauma. Then I come home and when I get some free time, I read about zombies. I was telling a supervisor at work that zombie novels make me feel hopeful- although mass amounts of people are undergoing the ultimate trauma- a zombie apocalypse- we don't see them as victims. We see these traumatised people as survivors, heroes, strong of mind. What are your thoughts on Zombie stories and trauma?
