FYA Book Club of Charm City discussion

I'm so excited Danielle will be reading this with me, but anyone can join in during the reading.

All I ask is please pace yourself. The goal is to have this read in a week.

Here's the proposed reading schedule:

Thur- pg 237-294
Fri- pg 295- 356
Sat- pg 357- End

Let's try to stick to this as much as possible so that our discussion can be "on the same page". *lol*

pg 30 ok I'm mad. Their psychotic dad is to blame. The monsters just came to clean up the mess. Why did he do that?

Yea he went super psycho on the steering wheel. They should have just taken the long way. Im on like page 62 now. What do you think of Kat. For some reason I dont really like characters who just come out of the blue wanting to be someones best friend. I mean who walks in someones hospital room and just gets all personal with them?

pg 60 now. I think her mom put her up to it. I mean she "is" a nurse. losing your family can be traumatic for a teenager. maybe Kat was visiting her mom and she was like you should speak to the sad girl. *shrugs* but it is strange. Kat is such an extrovert, she's terrifying and overbearing.

on another note I'm excited by the possible pretense of a romance. what do you think of Cole?

I think Cole is really intense. They are having like these little stare-daydream fantasies. Whats that all about? Now I am also curious about Alice's parents relationship. When she read her moms journal it seems like her mother may have known something about the father's "psychosis". Her grandparents said her dad never took her mom out at night. And I was soo cracking up when her grandpa said "Were not trying to get all up in your biznez". So funny.

Oh yeah Cole is really something! I also love the supporting characters. Have you noticed yet that they all represent a character from Alice in Wonderland? Kat is Chester the Cat. Her ex and his friend are the twins. I think the mean chick is the red queen. I'm not sure about the rest yet.

Wren is hilarious! When she said "Cole must think you give good eye because he was making out with you right back".....OMG I died laughing!

I'm behind on my reading. I'm stuck on that kiss and battle scene. I will catch up today.

I'm just realizing that Cole must be the mad hatter. I am looking more closely for references in the book.

oh my goodness! you are so right. with those purple eyes and his attitude he is most definitely the mad hatter. I think the wise caterpillar is one of the grams...maybe both.
