WHY is your favorite series your favorite? If someone else had never heard of it before, why would it be your favorite?

I am personally a cultist devoted to The Name of the Wind. I love the poetry of his series, as well as the deep stories within stories within stories.

I must have read the first two books in this trilogy a dozen times each by now.

Justin (justinswapp) | 9 comments Agree on The Name of the Wind. I'm still on the first one, but I love it. Also, I've heard nothing but awesome things about the rest of the series.

I'm a big Harry Potter fan. That might sound cliché at this point, but Rowling built a fantastic world with a pulse.

Lorna I am a paranormal fan so my favorites are from that genre. Caged series by Amber Lynn Natusch and The Magerie series by Dannika Dark are two of my favorites.I also have some favorite young adult books-The Premonition series by Amy Bartol,Hidden Wings by Cameo Renae and What Kills Me by Wynne Channing.

Kyra Dune (kyradune) | 6 comments My all time favorite series is Dragonlance. Classic high fantasy that tells a sweeping story of magic, dragons, gods, and mortals. My second favorite is Harry Potter.

Lori (gungirllori) I don't read much paranormal but I love JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Its a vampire series with everything, action, drama, high emotion, intense sex scenes and romance.

Krista If i am to go with Sci-Fi series, at the moment, i would choose Deborah Harkness's All Souls Trilogy, starting with A Discovery of a Witch. While i like dystopian books that take me to another world, this one still kept me grounded with some history, mythology, magic and love. I loved being able to picture everything in my minds eye, especially since i live in Upstate New York it wasnt that hard to imagine where she was from, and being close to Salem, Masachussetts home of the famous Witch Trials. And then the second book with all the history of England and the times. Its funny 'cause after reading this i "burned" (read) through a lot of books about witches and alchemy...

So help me if the ruin it and make it into a movie...i like to keep my stories and how i visualize things in my head.

Impatiently awaiting the last book.

I LOVE the All Soul's Trilogy, so much that I checked her website to see how the third book was coming along and was crushed when she said she was at a block so she doesn't know when it's coming. (Crushed but also from a writers perspective completely understanding). She also mentioned that they are going to be made into movies and I don't know how to feel about that.

My favorite complete series? It's a tie between The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King (because it took me on a journey, and it had elements of horror, science fiction and fantasy) and Harry Potter (because I grew up with those books and I could relate to everything the characters went through from non magical standpoint. And as someone mentioned above Rowling built a very very fantastical world that came alive on each and every page.) Also the Vampire Huntress Series by L.A Banks because I love a really good series and i fell in love with the characters. The Vampires were evil, the angel's weren't always right and the heroine made mistakes and couldn't always fix them.

Thanks - i hadn't seen that about the third book... and yea i understand being/feeling stuck...
And i am not sure i want them in a movie - they keep ruining my imagination by turning it into a movie - they always leave out key pieces or change it entirely. While i understand that if you did a movie verbatim it would be a very long epic movie but still...
ps i loved Harry Potter - i now have my 9 year old reading them :) And those movies followed the books precisely

I'm hoping if the movie thing does happen that she'll have more of a hand in it. Because i would want it to follow the book. That's why i don't know how i feel about it because I don't want to watch someone else's interpretation of the book. I don't want it to be like Queen of the Damned (while i liked the movie after reading the book the movie seemed more like a fan fiction.)

I have read The Mortal Instruments series and have been waiting over a year and a half for the last book but am scared to see City of Bones.... I've heard it's good but I am not sure if they had read the books :/ . Haven't read or seen Queen of the Damned - will have to add it to my TBR list.

It's a series you have to start with Interview with a Vampire *the movie was actually a good adaptation.* I've heard mixed reviews about City of Bones, some say they didn't like how it was adapted and some say they do. Katytastic on youtube reviewed both the movie and books.

Jaime631 Fuster | 2 comments I like the movie interview with a vampire.

Mark Bordner I have to admit that the Star Trek motion picture series, from the original cast right on through the TNG movies, were quite entertaining, and I don't consider myself a 'Trekkie'.

It's the combination of action and well-placed humor, along with the continuity of timeline and development of the characters that kept me watching/reading.

As someone who has also enjoyed a couple MY stories, I tell ya, Chasing, we share similar taste there. :)

Heidi Barnes | 7 comments Too many to list really. Mortal Instruments, The Black Dagger Brotherhood, Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter, to name a few recent ones. (As in the last ten years.) In my younger years there is the Dragon Riders of Pern series, David Eddings Belgariad and Malloreon series. I still have all the paperbacks.
