Rebecca--I moved your request up to Unsolved since you seem to be looking for a specific book rather than any and all books with a similar theme.

Good luck on finding it.

Rebecca, why did the adults disappear? Spoilers are okay - just give us a clear warning before revealing a spoiler. [Removed the spoiler (cloning) from the topic header.]

What's the location - realistic Earth, future Earth, another planet or fantasy world? Country/region?

What's the tone - sad/somber, angsty, scary, funny at times, some romance, etc.?

Carlos | 6 comments Could it be "The children of Timpelbach"?
It happens only in a city, not the whole world, but the adults disappear.

Les enfants de Timpelbach

Rainbowheart | 29111 comments It was also pubbed in English as Trouble at Timpetill.
