It's actually under discussion right now between us (the moderators). There hasn't been a lot of activity with it and we think we just launched it at the wrong time. If you are interested and can find someone else to pair up with go ahead! I will note that we have at least one interested member :)
Here in the Struggling Writers Group, we're always coming up with new ideas to help you improve your writing. SO, without further ado, let me introduce the Character Role-Playing Station!
Character Development. I don't know about you, but to me, those two words cause some major dread. Creating a character that seems like a real, living and breathing person, can be tough. Really tough. So we've come up with an idea for you!
You've probably heard that figuring out how your character behaves will really help you to create real characters. So we're giving you a place to do that! You can tell us a little bit about your character (name, age, interests, and such) and we'll pair you up with other people's characters on your own post. (Your name will be in the post's title) Then one of your mods will give you situation to write about that involve your characters. This will help you get to know who these imaginary characters really are.
So, how exactly does it work? Here are your guidelines.
1) Tell us your character's name, age, and anything else we may need to know about him or her. Please don't tell us everything there is to know about your character. One of the purposes of this activity is for you to learn how to reveal your characters in creative ways. Also, please don't submit a huge number of characters in to us. Until we get this Station up and running smoothly, the limit will be only one character per person. We'll let you know that can change.
2) Be patient. We don't want to randomly group people together. So if your character is a teacher and several people who submit their characters are doctors, you may not be included in that group of characters. Please understand why we do this and let us have the chance to pair you with characters who might actually encounter your characters.
3) When your character has been selected to be in a group, a moderator will create a post for you. The post will have YOUR name (not you character's name) in the title. Also, we will have a reference sheet with pairings listed. To make things easier on you, each group will have a number. For example, a group of doctors might be group one and a group of students and their teacher might be group two.
4) Be courteous in your posts. The purpose of this station is to help other people, and being mean is not polite. It is also not tolerated in this group. In addition, please keep your posts relevant to the topic.
5) Please do not create topics. Only mods should make topics in this folder. Groups are ASSIGNED.
6) Have fun getting to know your characters!!!
