The plane scene was really hard for me to read. She told him she would stop when he asked her to, but then she totally kept going when he said stop! It didn't feel realistic to me. Trust me I know about PTSD and all of a sudden Gideon being cool with anal play just because it is Eva doing it, isn't realistic. Even when you trust someone and love them with all your heart, there are just some things that you can't bring yourself to do, because they trigger bad memories. . I would have thought that "anal play" would be a major trigger for him. Then she of all people should have known that stop means stop. She would have had a cow if it was Gideon that kept doing something after she told him to stop. I kinda wonder if SD really knows how sexual abuse and PTSD? I don't know? Does anyone agree with me.

However, there is no hard, fast rule regarding triggers. It's different for everyone, as is PTSD. For some people, it can be a certain situation that is a trigger. For others, it can be that someone who has a similar look or similar mannerisms to their abuser serves as a trigger.

It is possible for some people to gain comfort with someone they love and trust despite their past or their triggers, and it's possible Gideon has found that with Eva. She found it with him; her inner dialogue has told us that he is able to do things to her she's never been able to let anyone else do, such as restraining her.
