Buddy Read - Ceremony In Death (Oct. 2013) SPOILER ZONE
Hey Y'all. I'll start this reread in a few days. I have 3 other books that I'm committed to in other BR's or Monthly Reads that I need to finish first.
I'm already halfway done! I'm listening to the audiobook and it seems that this is a shorter novel than typical for the series. A lot happening right from the start. Started this last night so I expect I will finish tomorrow. I could kick Feeney. Other than that, I will hold off on spoilers until later in the month.
Audio loaded up! I like to listen first, then usually end up re-reading on the kindle as we talk. Yeah, I'm a nut!
You're a nut among good company! I think we're all a bit nuts to be so obsessed with a series. But, darn, I love it!
I feel bad...I just finished reading Ceremony in Death. Have to say that I loved it the second time around!
Turns out that what I have is an abridged version. The library has CDs, so I'm stopping until I get those. Hopefully my partner can pick them up today. I'm still recovering from a leg injury, so there isn't much I can do. I can't even knit very long because sitting is a problem.
I'll try and start it soon. I had death in the family so it's a bit topsy-turvy in my house! Hoping to catch up to you all soon
Sorry to hear about the death in your family, Michelle. And your leg injury, Stephanie. I wish you both the best. No worries or rush on reading Ceremony...I haven't started yet either. We'll all jump in the discussions when we can...hence the definition of "buddy" read!

Oh Michelle, I am so sorry to hear that. My thoughts go to you and your family.

Get better soon!
Get better soon!
I am sorry for your loss Michelle. I also hope you get better, Stephanie. I just had some pretty major surgery, so I sort of understand how you are feeling.

I can't tell you how many times I have reread this book, and this is the first time I found holes in the story. I am already done with Ceremony, and the one thing I wonder is with all the members in Celina's group (old age and 6 books ago) the bad guy's group. How do they actually know who to follow and when. That part just doesn't make sense.
Glad you're doing so well, Dee. It's been a long time since I last read Ceremony so I've got to dive in and get it fresh in my mind. I'll start in a couple of days. Sunday it is Michelle!
I've got to finish Beautiful Creatures before I can start CID. I've got to make at least a little dent in my pile of TBR books!
I know what you mean Maggie. No rush...I'm backed up with books to read and review. No one should feel pressure or hurry to start this one. Just chime in as you get ready to start and we'll get it going.
Still can't drive, but Mom picked up the cd set from the library for me. Good thing. The abridged version left out the details that makes this series enjoyable. I'm about 3 hours in this unabridged copy.
life and reading don't go along well:) there doesn't pass a day where I don't ask myself how I can find a job where they can pay me for reading:) but it is a too big caereer change from electrical engineering I guess;)
I'm just burning through this book. Couple of things. I get a kick out of Roarke being superstitious and uncomfortable admitting it. I love that Eve flusters continuously over the limousine, not because she doesn't appreciate the fact that it contains food, but because she's embarrassed if other cops see her in it.I don't quite understand why Eve so over focused on the Wiccans as potential suspects. She wasted a lot of cop time on that when she should have been looking for more probable cause to search Celina's place.

This really bothered me a lot, especially the interview.

Finished. Don't want to give out a bunch of spoilers, but I will say that I would never have forgiven Feeney for what he said Especially because he trained her. He knows how it works.
I like how Roarke keeps the memo cube with the recording of Eve saying she owes him 50 credits. He will tuck it away with the button. Sweet :) It must be pretty small cause the button is always in his pocket.
Memo cubes might be size similar to those iPod shuffles? I'm sure voice recorders would get smaller and smaller in the future.
the part where Feeney went off on Eve always gets to me. Eve was so hurt and i got so mad at Feeney. It was one of the tear jerkers for me.
But I loved the scene where Roarke goes to see Feeney. It almost made up for Feeney's awful scene.

Please note: Spoiler Alert...we will be openly discussing this book.
