I was supposed to be at a party but Im too ill. Now I'm sitting looking at obscure videos on Youtube.

Do you believe in aliens? That the US gov has had contact?

And if they have, do you think they would withhold the information, and for what purpose?

I always think thats a nice thing to think about when writing stories. Don't think it would do very well for religion.

Does the subject just freak you out?

Ok, first I hope you feel better soon! What will we do without our Bisky!

To answer your question.
1- YES I do believe in aliens.
2- YES I believe the US gov has had contact.
3- YES they would for a few reasons. Mostly, not to spook the population, and secondly, not to reveal what they may have learned from wreckage etc. to other countries. And if they found live aliens, don't you think they wouldn't want people to learn what they do/did to them?
Aliens and religion: One of my favorite non-fiction book was called The bible and the extra-terrestrial. No need to say what they talked about, I guess but still. They took the important stuff in the bible and turn it in a way that made you think twice. What if Jesus was indeed an alien from another planet? That would explain his resurrection, his ability to create food out of nothing, to heal people etc. The famous chariot of fire? Anyway, yes I guess it doesn't do too well with religion so I am sorry if what I just wrote is offending anyone. Just know that I didn't write it, I merely read it!

Does the subject freak me out? NOT AT ALL.
There are some stories I could tell about that but I already wrote something today that may brand me crazy so... once is enough :P

I'm not particularly reglious and the thought has crossed my mind, just look at the cargo cults :] I like going through art work there is a lot of strange images in old paintings and sculptures :3

(I have a UFO sighting thread here too!)

message 4: by Christopher (new)

Christopher | 14 comments Yup, I believe aliens exist. The universe is too vast to think otherwise. As for government involvement, I think it's the British and not the U.S. covering it up. =p Or maybe some Scandinavian country...

I think I now understand how the new healthcare reform law reached over 20,000 pages. Aliens wrote it!

So I now believe that America has had contact with aliens.

J. David Clarke (clarketacular) | 418 comments Yes aliens exist, or perhaps have existed or will exist, somewhere in the universe. Have we had contact? No.

I.O. Kirkwood (iokirkwood) | 2 comments The 12th Planet So I would check out Zecharia Sitchin. He presents a very good argument for the presence of aliens from the very beginning of Cro-Magnon humans'existence. It gives a good hypothesis on why we cannot find that ever elusive "Missing Link" and hints at the origins of genetic engineering as well as nuclear weaponry. I have read all 7 books in this series. So yes, I do believe in aliens and I think their meddling has influenced any number of crazy issues in our collective history: racism, gold worship, and the many strange genetic illnesses that plague our populations today.

Kamil | 187 comments The universe is too big for just one planet with sentient living-beings. I'm not saying there might be another species of evolved-primates, maybe they are like evolved lobsters or canines, or probably similar to us in all, except for the skin.
If we had contact with the aliens, any governement would keep it top-secret and they would eliminate any witness of the event.

@christopher you should look up the scandiavian ghost rockets :p

I do think its interesting to think that we were contacted or influenced by outside forces. But Im not 100% convinced that they did even with all that I've read. However, I am leaning towards that we did have some kind of contact at somepoint more recently.

I've always found it interesting to ponder lifeforms that weren't carbon based.

I watched a documentary the other night when I went back home. There was this human-shaped figure the size of a rat that some farmers caught in Mexico in 2007. It had a frightening cry.

So after seeing that, I more strongly believe we've had some kind of contact...

Why did you not link the documentry I want to watch :D

I've heard of an incident in the states, from two different people with no relation to each other who know about the incident for different reasons (one relating to the family, one relating to the military presence) I didn't let either know that I knew of the other.

I just doubt it was aliens since there are lots of things we still don't know about our own planet.

OH it's like the article my husband read about the Earth being hollow and that living beings might be living inside... That would make them earthlings too, not aliens. :P

Exactly! To be honest we know nothing that isn't fed to us by the media/goverments. Unless you personally know someone who has walked on the fricking moon or been to the bottom of the sea, whos to say that what we read is actually correct?

message 14: by Ann (new)

Ann Thorrson (ann_thorrson) | 2536 comments Mod
Btw. Because of the messages Ive been getting. I didn't say that I don't believe we have walked on the moon. It was just an example.

You know this happens everytime I mention the moonwalk. Why is it such a touchy subject? :x

Lela (lacslc) | 8 comments Don't worry. People get a little crazy over this subject. This is the pro vs con conspiracy hot button issue. I responded because I felt no one was looking at the character of Neil Armstrong. Hang in there. It should end soon if you stop responding! Sorry.

hehe I understood what you meant. There was a movie or a show about something similar. In the story, they went to another planet, and they showed it live on TV but the interesting and strange things seen there were removed and replaced by videos taken earlier.
What I mean to say is that if there were things that were not meant for the public eyes, I am 100% sure they would cut if off and no one would be the wisest.

To answer your question as why it is such a touchy subject, I would say:

1- because people want to believe their government wouldn't hide anything as Important as that.

2- People don't want to believe in other beings. It's scary.

Yeah. But I will say I never look at the character of anyone when I try to figure out if something really happened. Anecdotal evidence isn't really something I feel I can rely on. But I'm not talking about the moon landing thing here I'm just talking generally :3

@G.G getting a live feed to another planet would be a challenge considering they can't always get the morning breakfast program without someone staring gormlessly at the screen waiting for delayed voices in warzones :p

message 19: by Lela (new)

Lela (lacslc) | 8 comments Okay. I agree we get all excited about the moon landing but I don't really understand it. I think our government lies to us all the time. That makes me angry not fearful. Why are we worried about aliens? I think it would be so exciting. What an opportunity for learning! Normally, I would agree with you about anecdotal evidence but because I knew him, it's not an anecdote to me. All about perspective, I perceive!

Exactly! Thats what I meant by the first comment :3

I've been told some nasty things about a certain organisation. If anyone other than one of my close friends had told me I'd tell them to stop being silly. Considering I know him, its totally mindfucked me and I question everything lol
