... a far-future posthuman sends two boxes back in time. The first arrives in the 1942, and is discovered by an eleven-year-old boy. Contents lead him and his sister to build a bridge to the future.
The second box arrives in 19th century England, and is found by a woman, who recites the title verse to who else but Charles Dodgson (i.e., Lewis Carroll) and says it means "the way out". Dodgson proceeds to include it in his writings, including the poem "Jabberwocky". Later, the phrase provides the key to a time-space equation.
If you saw the movie "The Last Mimsy" then you know all this. It does evoke parallels with the recent Cloud Atlas.
Kuttner and his wife and writing partner Moore were prolofic writers in the 40s and 50s. And Mimsy is their contribution to the SFWA's best science fiction stories written prior to 1965.
