He asks"who would you choose to rewrite Austen ?". Well - I wouldn't and can't understand why anyone else would quite frankly. As you say Lee, bizarre.
Exactly - I mean It's not the plots that people love about Austen so much as her characters, humour, and insights into human nature. Why on earth would you need Austen to be rewritten for the modern world - surely the original continues to do just fine.
How about, instead of rewriting classics for the modern generation, we raise education standards so that children grow up learning to appreciate Austen, along with Shakespeare, Dickens etc, and to appreciate the English language in all it's glory.Could you imagine the start of a revamped Pride & Prejudice?
It's so, like, totes obv, like, that a rich bloke will, like, want some 'ho' sorting his shit out
I suspect the average teenager would wonder what on earth I was on about!! For a start, I think it should be 'the guy wiv da bling, no wat ah mean?'
Lol! Your intro to Pride & Prejudice reminded me of the wonderful "street" version of the story of Helen of Troy by Horrible Histories - watch it and weep ( with laughter).

I always thought totes were cosy socks with grips on the underneath - first time I heard someone saying that it did take me a minute to figure it out :S
I thought a tote was a kind of shopping bag?
