I like the contest Chains set up for Locke and Sabetha. We see that Locke has yet to develop the planning skills evident in the previous two books.
I really love the stuff with Chains. He's such a fascinating character.
We have our first intersect. Not quite sure what that is. Seems like two bondmagi communicating telepathically. Is one of them Falconer? The one who wants the old man to help Locke die?

Well there is one carry over character from book two: Regal the cat!
Oh and I think Coldmarrow must be the old man from the previous intersection.

We see the Bastards joining the church of the Crooked Warden, and Locke chosen to be a priest, much to Sabetha's disappointment it seems.
I didn't finish this section as I had planned, so I'll have to avoid it until I do so tomorrow.

I wasn't a huge fan of the first intersect... it felt like too much was given away. Then again, that probably means that Mr. Lynch is intentionally misdirecting us, and we'll find out that the scheming wizards are actually the good guys, and that everything would have turned out better if Locke had actually died.
So the stage is set: Locke and Jean vs. Sabetha. Am I the only one who hopes Locke crushes her so completely that they make up?
Then again, we have no idea at this point what happened between them to cause her to leave the Bastards.
I'm just getting a little tired of them always being so outmatched.

I wonder what the bonds magi think is so special about Locke - maybe Locke is related to a bonds magi?

I like the challenge though, Locke is going to be so utterly distracted and paranoid at the same time.
David Sven wrote: "I wonder what the bonds magi think is so special about Locke - maybe Locke is related to a bonds magi?"That's an interesting point.
It certainly was odd that they made a point of mentioning that most magi children don't possess the magic, and we know very little about Locke's parents.
I did love Patience answer on what 'they did with children that don't have the magic'. I think they did think they threw them somewhere in the sea :)
