And to start things off, I am looking for beta readers for my second novel, DIDEP?Here's a summary I've come up with:
Bassil, a middle aged Saudi, is a logical man. He’s a rational man. He does not allow emotion to cloud his judgment. His mettle is tested when he discovers that his wife is cheating on him with his best friend. But how is a logical man to react? He decides to have fun with it, until it ceases to be fun. He ends up being angry, but it’s okay, reader, for anger is not an emotion, it is the destroyer of emotions. His wife tells him she is pregnant, and he decides to vent his anger against her and her lover, but the question is, how?
Let me know if you're interested. My email is basheh.ameen@gmail.com
Haha yeah. It's just the way things work (in fiction at least - one would hope). I probably should've mentioned the word count. Oops. It's around 55,000 words, which is 187 word document pages (double spaced).
Ameen, I'm not sure if you still need a beta reader, but I would be happy to do a manuscript swap with you or anyone else in the group. I'm hoping to find beta readers for the first book in my trilogy, entitled The Mountains of Qaf. It's an urban fantasy inspired by Persian and Arabian mythology and literature. I would love to have readers familiar with MENA literature take a look at it.Here's the pitch:
Angels and demons. The beautiful winged Peri of Persia and the dark, mysterious Jinn of Arabia. These creatures of myth are now all too real to Carolyn, an expert in Middle Eastern mythology desperate to discover the fate of her only brother, a MIA Special Forces soldier. The shadowy paramilitary organization he worked for has discovered a portal to a violent alternate reality in which the angelic followers of light, the noor, battle the Jinn and their demon allies of the zulamaat. Carolyn's search for her brother draws her into this ancient conflict where she and everyone she loves are in danger from both sides.
It's about 98,000 words

This will be for members interested in being beta readers and for authors to find beta readers interested in MENA literature.
