Market

Kanamra walked down the main street. There were people were everywhere selling many different foods and many other products. Kanamra had her cloak hood on and wore one of her maid's dresses.

Ella roamed the streets pick pocketing people and dart away before they saw her. She sat on the curb of the street putting the stole goods in her satchel.

Kanamra walked around checking all the carts and stores. She finally found a cart full of fruit. She paid for an apple and then bit into it. Her eyes then wandered up at the sky. Good to be out of the castle. She thought as her cat trotted next to her.

Ella's stomach rumbled she looked around hungry, she knew there would be food for her back home. Smelling bread, she looked up at the bread cart. Looking around she ducked through the crowd and tried to snag a loaf a bread, but a large hand came down and pulled her away.
The bread maker stared at her coldly, "You think you can just steal food, street-rat?"
Ella squirmed in his grip afraid.

Kanamra saw a girl grab for some bread and then got slapped. She paid the bread maker for a loaf a bread. "Here." She handed the bread to the girl. "Also take this." She held a small bag of coins. Kanamra smiled; she threw the apple core away in a barrel.

Ella looked up at the woman's kind clean face compared to her dirty one. She was always afraid to talk to people. Ella shook her head and tried to give the woman back the bag of coins.

"No, I want you to take it." She placed the bag into the girl's hands. Kanamra turned around and walked back towards the castle. Mittens rubbed against her legs, she picked her up and held her as she walked.

Ella looked at the woman surprised that anyone could be that nice especially to a stranger. She quickly put the coins away. She still barely had enough to get her mother the medicine she needed.

Kanamra petted Mittens and then put her down. "Let's head back." She walked all the way to a secret door at the wall of the castle; she opened it and walked in. Kanamra walked to another door that led to the kitchen. She whispered something into the cook's ear since the two of them were friends.

Ella went to the cleaner and brighter part of the market and sat at the curb. She pulled out her drawing book and drew a the birds around the market, searching for scarps of food.

Ella counted the money she stole for the day. Not enough, it was never enough. She knew her mother didn't have long. Her mother needed that medicine. She looked over at the looming castle. No one dared to steal from the royal family. Ella stood up and headed for the castle, first time for everything.

Kanamra smiled and then walked to her chambers to change into her normal clothes. Mittens followed closely behind and then meowed.
