In this post I would like you to choose two of your favorite books and write recommendations for both. In each recommendation I would like you to include the title, author, genre and a brief explanation of what you liked best about the book (no spoilers!). Try to include a link to each book as well.

Lords of Discipline, Pat Conroy
The Lords of Discipline is a realistic fiction novel about four young cadets attending a fictitious military school based on the infamous Citadel. Though they come from different backgrounds, they form a strong bond that is tested when they uncover a culture of violence that I is allowed to exist under the guise of hazing. This is a story of a true brotherhood that is forged in the face of tremendous obstacles, as they struggle not only to survive but expose and change the overwhelmingly destructive forces that lie at the root of their school. The Lords of Discipline

The Sparrow, Mary Doria Russell
A masterpiece of modern science fiction, The Sparrow follows the story of Emilio Sandoz, a Jesuit linguist who is chosen to be a member of a team to explore a newly discovered planet. Told through a series of interviews that require Emilio to explain the events of the failed mission, the novel deals with a wide range of highly complex issues about spirituality, the relationships, and the resilience of the human spirit. The novel also creates a wonderful sense of suspense, as we constantly wonder what tragic event(s) caused Emilio to change from the optimistic man of faith in his youth to the tortured, physically deformed misanthrope of his later years. Definitely one of my top 10 favorite books. The Sparrow

Gabriel Lucas | 2 comments The Road by Cornmac Carthy (not exactly sure if I spelled that name right) the genre would be scfi. It was man vs man but I guess you can call it man vs society, considering the fact that this father and son have to survive against this post apocalyptic world filled with other survivors. Not the most friendliest of people. What I liked most was the environment that is described in the book, the book never really explains how this apocalypse happened but I always thought global warming. It looked a lot like the affects of global warming.

The Shining, is the other best book I have read. The background of the book is a real place. It's an actual mansion that is up on a hill and is supposedly haunted. Of course, the genre is horror. What I liked best is how the father was going insane.

Jahaira Polanco | 3 comments the fault in our stars is a great east read book. It's about a girl named Hazel that is suffering from lung cancer. But it's not you're ordinary "cancer book". It's shows her perspective on cancer or the world. And it also has a romantic side to it as well. I really recommend this book because it has a little bit of everything. Tragedy, drama, comedy and romance! The Fault in Our Stars

Rain | 6 comments Remember me by Christopher pike is a good fantasy, sci-fi book to read. It's about Shari cooper, a girl who with her and her friends try to contact the dead, but it ended up being the last thing she ever did. Throughout the whole time of her life, she tries and figure out what to do, and rethink the consequences of her actions when she does. Especially when she tries finding out about her murderer, and what she will do about it.

Rain | 6 comments Unearthly by Cynthia hand is a good book to read if you are into myths and action. The story is about Clara, who finds out about her ancestors, and what she will become. An angel-bood, who has a purpose in life; to protect the guy of her dreams. Literally. And so, throughout her misadventures, she discovers secrets, and more about her true self (besides being an angel-blood)

It is about a young girl named Eva who works in the Crossfire building whom falls in love with Gideon Cross, a billionaire and the owner of the building she works in. That book is an interesting. The book is about a teenage girl who gets pregnant but doesn't know she pregnant. She goes on life not knowing she pregnant. One day she wasn't feeling good and she went into the bathroom and she had the baby. She didn't know it was a baby do she rapped it up in a towel and threw it away. You have to read the book to find out the rest.

Niketa Smith | 5 comments It Happen to Nancy by Beatrice non fiction
It's about a girl who thinks she fell in love with an 18 year old boy name Collin. Little did she know that everything she knew about the boy was all a lie. She ends up being rapped by him. The "love of her life" had given her AIDs. In the book you will go through how she felt when she first met him and how she feels about him now.
