Natalia I was a little confused as of who was Irene Adler. Was she a real person?

Hi Natalia. This is one of my favorite novels.

About Irene Adler, if you're asking whether she was "real" or "imaginary," I would say that she was definitely real ... not a figment of Corso's imagination. However she's not, how shall we say, what she appears to be ...

Hints: "Irene Adler" is the name of a character in Sherlock Holmes; in The Club Dumas this enigmatic person becomes referred to simply as "the Girl."

Natalia Thanks Stephen, I thought I had missed a few pages after I finished the book, I thought she might be an angel until they got intimate. You know I have not read any Sherlock Holmes but I should give them a try.

Stephen Welch Well, she is an angel, in a manner of speaking ... just of the "fallen" variety.

Kirk Adler was an antagonist of Holmes and someone who earned his respect. Certainly the only woman for whom Holmes had the slightest attraction to.
