Laura - I had never heard of him either pre-GoodReads. I borrowed The Midwich Cuckoos because it is on the Guardian list and it seemed from the blurb to be a bit spooky so I thought it might be a good Halloween book. I think Wyndham is popular in England more than America...
I agree john wyndham is probably more well known in England. I hadn't heard of this book until quite recently, though I'd heard of a couple of his others, such as The day of the triffids- my mum often tells me that my garden looks like a scene from it, with plants taking over the world!
The Day of the Triffids is also on the Guardian list & I almost borrowed that one instead. Did you like it?
Midwich Cuckoos was filmed as Village of the Damned, maybe you have heard of that one.
I didn't know that Gill, perhaps I'll seek the film out afterwards! Leslie I haven't read that either, just know the basic premise, its another one on the TBR though :)

I've read quite a few of John Wyndham's books, including The Midwich Cuckoos. Really enjoyed them as a teenager, and loved The Day of the Triffids.

Into the Darkest Corner - brilliant, one of the best books I've ever read!
I'm not sure what I'll be reading - I've got alot of sewing for Christmas to do so reading will slow down for a bit! I'll make up for it later!!

I loved Death of a Salesman, I studied it a few years ago but for the life of me I can't remember the other play we also studied. I think it shows how much that Miller's play had an effect on me, haha.
Wuthering Heights for sure and maybe a Virginia Woolfe thats if Rebecca is ever finished.

I really enjoyed it, but I really tailed off it at the end (not due to the book, school work etc), so I never felt like I really finished it. Hence the re-read!
Holly am struggling in general. Lots of other stuff going on. The short stories and poems I am reading are just about enough for me at the minute.
Oh and Holly A Tale of Two Cities is wonderful. Hope you enjoy it

Edgar Allan Poes' poetry really connects with me I love The Raven and For Annie.

Definitely not, but I fell in love with The Lovesong of J Alfred Prufrock the first time I read it, and I really want to look at some of his work!
