Hi,

May I make a general request for some of your opinions as to what some of the best horror/Dark Fantasy/Suspense novels and collections have been over the years?

I'm very familiar with King, Matheson, Bloch, Bradbury, Straub, Masterton etc.

Perhaps this can take the form of a "desert island list"?

Jack Ketchum novels are very good. H. P. Lovecraft has inspired a lot of modern horror writers. I'll check my bookcase and reading list see if I can think of anymore.

Jonathan Maberrys Pine Deep series is super fun especially around Halloween.

I have Mr. Mayberry's Pine Deep series on my TBR shelf just begging to be cracked open.

Have you read any Richard Laymon? Some Joe Lansdale is considered horror also.

I read "Dark Forces" when it was first published in 1981. What a great group of authors.
My first encounter with King's "The Mist".

Hi Adam,
The only Laymon book I've ever read was "The Cellar".
Not very encouraged by this title. (Perhaps I was in the wrong frame of mind at the time.)
Looking forward to his "The Traveling Vampire Show" to be delivered this week. I've read quite a few positive reviews of this title.

I have a copy of Mr. Burke's, "Stage Whispers" on my TBR shelf.

Charlene is right. Burke is amazing. Anything he writes is great, and Stage Whispers is freaking awesome. You will need to get Nemesis, as well.

That is driving me nuts! I know a copy is being given away today (or maybe it was more than one I do not remember) I was just psyched because I have me tr and my To be read soon folder. That is where Screamscapes is. And it is on sale for $3.03 on Amazon now. But I do not know for how long. And I believe before October another one of your books is up for giveaway. Im there!
