This section was intense. I don't remember so much happening at a climax since maybe The Miserable Mill. But unlike the first half of the series, I was actually on the edge of my seat for this part.

I'm surprised Madame Lulu ended up betraying the Baudelaires in the end, I was almost certain she wasn't going to give away their identities. Makes an even more tragic ending, especially with the separation of the siblings.

And what a cliffhanger that was! Wow, and to think this is intended for children. I'm glad that I was exposed to this series as a kid because I don't think my reading experience and preference would be the same.

And the deja vu page again. I caught it, but at first I was like "What?" haha.

Can we all appreciate "Baudebrats" and the end of the bald man with the big nose? Lamest insult since "cakesniffers" and I'm so happy that man is gone because I imagined him to be repulsive. I was so sad to see Kevin cooperating with Olaf and putting Violet and Klaus in harm's way, but I do really understand where he and the other two are coming from. Just sad.

I'll be reading the next book very soon!
