Finish this one and read Dragons of Winter Night. If you don't like that book, then maybe the series is not for you. I really enjoy all Dragonlance by these authors, but Atutum Twilight is the introduction to the characters, to the world, and contains more general, typical fantasy, it is just getting started. The second book sets Dragonlance apart...
Ok ty, I'm not saying I hate it, not at all. Read a lot worse. It's just that buying 65 books although it's a good deal (it wil also cost me a new bookcase) is worth some consideration.
I can understand that. I'm in the US and looked up the conversion - that does sound like a nice deal (to me, except for the fact that I have about 25 books from the series already). I'll say this - The Dragonlance stories not written by Weis and Hickman are usually not as good. At least that is my opinion. So I recommend book two, if not the book deal. Good luck.
I'd say go for it, but then again I may be a bit biased as I've been a fan of the books for about 20 years. Not all the books are like that, especially the Tales. There's love, magic, preserving history, gnomish inventions (thankfully no committees), and even crazy kender adventures.
While I agree that there are stories not by Weis & Hickman that aren't as good, I would say that the majority are just as good.
My first book wasn't a Weis & Hickman, it was the Legend of Huma by Richard Knaak and still one of my favourites.

Ha!! Larissa that was my first book too!! Got me started on the series.
Mikos I have ALL the books and have found myself rereading them on occasion. There are so many books that build the characters and the realm. The one you are reading now is right at the beginning of a turn of events. There are books that build the characters' history up before the "Dragons of" series. Other authors I enjoy are Richard A. Knaak and Jean Rabe.
I forgot to add...if you like Margaret Weiss & Tracy Hickman than you have to OWN "Death Gate Cycle" series. They are even better than Dragonlance IMO. There are seven of them.
I agree with James. Read the next book and if you don't like that I would suggest reading one by another author. I read the Soulforge recently and even though it's wrote by one of the same authors the style was very different.

It was one of the first series I've read. I also got Rose of the Prophet and Dragon's Bard on my to read list.
I'm done now with autumn twilight, in the end I found it okay, 3 stars. I'm gonna start on winter nights tonight so we will see after that.
Ty for your opinion/comment!
Ok well first of all thank you all for your reactions/opinions. I'm almost finished with dragons of winter night, and I decided I like it. It's a little bit lighter then the ussuall books I read. But I think I will keep reading the series in between other books/series.
If you're not sure about Dragons of Autumn Twilight, you could try the next core trilogy, Legends, starting with Time of the Twins. I started with the Legends trilogy, and like it better than the first trilogy, Chronicles. The trilogies still make sense if you read them out of order.www.dragonlancenovelguide.com

Pretty much. The only thing would be to read certain trilogies in order (e.g. The Elven Nations trilogy). Other than that, pick whichever takes your fancy at the time.
The great thing is the series is that it's pretty open. You can pretty much pick up any of the sub-series and be able to understand what's going on. Plus there are many websites and fans out there on the internet that are always more than willing to help you understand something if you don't get it.
