Audrey, Wait! Is about a girl named Audrey who breaks up with her boyfriend, Evan, who is in a local band. He writes a song about her and it becomes a international hit. Audrey has to deal with becoming famous.
I read this yesterday and found the writing really witty and fun. What are your thoughts?
Hmm, I don't remember if it was on a list. You are most likely right. It is a cute, clever and light book. Sometimes the cleverness got lost in the omgawds and totallys, but it was still pretty good.
I was really pleasantly surprised by this book! I thought it would be way too cool for me, with all the musical references, but Robin Benway (and Audrey) has a fantastic voice!
I absolutely enjoyed this book. I loved all the music references in it. Every chapter starts off with a line from some song and just about every chapter I was like, "Oh, awesome song!" I do have to say I was constantly on my ipod after reading. And boy did I crave In-N-Out while reading it...Audrey and I even order the same meal. I loved this book!!!
This is on my TBR list too. I read someone's review of it though, and they said it had a lot of inappropriate swearing. Did anyone find that to be true? I think swearing is realistic with teens, but I know sometimes it's WAY overdone.
There is quite a bit of swearing, but it totally fits with the story line. Audrey is that teenage girl that does swear...even her friends. After reading the story and reflecting on all the swearing...it would be kind of weird if those words weren't in the book.
