Bronwen (bronnieb) | 15 comments The two that I felt informed me most were:
"Rasputin: The Last Word" by Edvard Radinsky and "To Kill Rasputin: The Life and Death of Gregori Rasputin" by Andrew Cook.
(I am based in Australia and titles may differ in UK and USA)

S. Shelton | 19 comments I'd recommend "Nicholas and Alexandra" by Robert K. Massie, published in 1967. An excellent account of the court and Rasputin's influence on Alexandra.

Should you have interest in reading a historical novel dealing with the Russian Revolution, the Regicide, and the fiction that Anastasia, though badly wounded, survived. Rescued by the Czech Legion, and pursued by the Soviet secret police, she escapes to a White Russian community in northwestern China where Catherine the Great's crown and a cache of Romanov jewelry are hidden. Treasure hunters and the Cheka via to find Anastasia and recover the cache. Ending in a surprise conclusion.

I will second the recommendation for To Kill Rasputin (same title in the US). Very comprehensive...

Pt | 5 comments Avoid "Rasputin: Scandal Master", by Anne Oakley. Not recommended - really more of a long magazine article than a book, and nearly exclusively dealing with his rumored sexual exploits rather than his effect on the Imperial Family.
